Ouch, that poll. Personally I disagree with the most votes going to “it’s terrible”, I think it’s sweet. I’d picture it on a girl before I’d see it on a boy. I voted ‘it’s okay’ because I don’t think I would personally ever use it, but I would smile if I ever met one.
@greyer–yes, I think I’m the same. I can’t really see myself using it, but there’s something about it I like for someone else.
To me it’s a colour or a profession, one of the armed forces.
I like it as a color name but the army/navy thing is tripping me up. It makes me think…is this child from a navy family? If not I kind of dislike it the way I would a boy named [name]Hunter[/name] whose never been in the forrest a day in his life! When I think if it as a color name it makes me think of [name]Gray[/name] which I wouldn’t use but I find much cooler than [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Scarlet[/name]…
I am really on the fence about this one!
I’m feeling the same.
Perhaps in the minority here, but I think it’s really great. I think it’s cute on a girl, but I agree that it is very unisex. But the -vy makes it sound quite feminine, like [name]Ivy[/name] or [name]Evie[/name]. I think it makes a nice alternative to the other colour names, and would suit a girly girl or a tomboy (unlike some other colours like lilac etc).
I didn’t vote because there wasn’t an option for how I feel.
I actually love [name]Navy[/name] (and I have seen the Naveigh spelling used, and trendy and awful though it is, I actually love it), but it’s too GPish for me to use (although I think a special sort of person could pull it off). That, and my family very much is an [name]Air[/name] Force family, haha, I don’t think using [name]Navy[/name] would go over very well.
I voted NMS, because, well… its not NMS
