Poll: Noel/Noelle

Is Noel strictly a December name? I love it year round. What are your thoughts? What is your preferred spelling? Noel or Noelle?

To me, [name_u]Noel[/name_u] is pronounced “noll” and is a boy name, while [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (or Noël) is pronounced “no-elle” and is a girl name.

I see [name_u]Noel[/name_u] as a boy and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] as a girl. I know a [name_u]Noel[/name_u] and a [name_f]Noella[/name_f], both just happened to be born close to [name_u]Christmas[/name_u], so it’d cross my mind that they might be a [name_u]December[/name_u] baby, but not necessarily so. It’s absolutely fine to be used year-round.

I view [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] as a girl’s name and [name_u]Noel[/name_u] as a boy’s name. So if you’re using it for a girl my vote goes for [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].

Absolutely can be used year-round! [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] means “born on [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] day” and is used year-round, so I don’t see why [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] can’t. To me [name_u]Noel[/name_u], rhymes with Joel/Toll/Roll and I prefer [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (no-elle)
