Ok. It’s official. We have decided on Blair for our girl (it was a JOURNEY you guys.) But now for the next hurdle - her middle name. We want to honor my mother or my grandmother. My mother is Patricia and my grandmother was Mary Jane.
We’re thinking Blair Patricia or Blair Jane. I worry Blair Jane doesn’t flow well though. Our last name is Frederick. What has your vote?
You could spice it up with the Jayne spelling! but I honestly think it is the better of the two options!
If your LN was shorter I would choose Patricia but Blair Jane / Jayne flows best with your LN to my ear because it better balances the length of the last name.
I agree that [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sounds a little abrupt, so i went with [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. However personally I think I would prefer [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or even [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] over both.
[name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is such a classic gem and it always sounds really good as a second middle…I am biased though because it’s my daughter’s second middle name! We almost didn’t use it because I wasn’t a big fan of two middles but it flows so well. I know this gives your daughter a rather long name since her surname is longer but in practical use it won’t really affect her. She can just use [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] J on forms other than her passport
I second the idea of [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. It sounds lovely and you get to honour your mum and grandma at the same time.
I would say [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] normally (or mix up syllable count) but [name_f]Jane[/name_f] in the middle sounds fab with your last name! (Otherwise [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] if you can do the double.)
