Poll: Pick Your Fave

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys - still struggling with names for our impending LO.

Please help!!

(background - this will be a sister for [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and her last name is 4 syllables long (Italian)

Options;

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] ([name_f]Willa[/name_f] is a new addition for us that is getting serious thought because to me, it sounds like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] without having to discuss it with my friend - see below- but the name isn’t rolling off my tongue yet)
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (I know [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I think it is cool and would be great on a girl)
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (I love this but my good friend has sort of ear marked it so it will require a ‘discussion’)
[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (my concern with [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] is that ppl will call her [name_f]Sera[/name_f] and likely never know she has such a great name)

Thoughts?

I clearly don’t know how to add a poll. Gah.

I love all of them except [name_f]Serafina[/name_f]. Not sure why, but it doesn’t grab me.

[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] is a lovely name, I definitely think it works better on a girl than a boy. If I had to pick one name from your list, [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would win, though I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a bit over-used as a MN.

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] are both beautiful.

I really dislike [name_u]Sloane[/name_u].

Ooh, I’m loving [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] having read your concerns about all of them. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] took me awhile to come around to, but now I find it really serene but strong.

You may or may not also like [name_f]Camille[/name_f] or [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], which could get you to [name_f]Milla[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_u]Cam[/name_u], or probably several other possible nicknames.

I admit that [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] really isn’t my cup of tea, but it stands out on your list because stylistically it’s so different from all of the others - I wonder if it’s kind of an outlier for you, a name outside your general preferences and tastes that you happen to like anyway (I think everyone has a few of those). I don’t know if you’re planning on having any more children after this one, but if your usual tastes are more like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], and [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] and future daughters would probably get names along those lines, [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] could look pretty out of place (which honestly isn’t a disaster, it’s just what I thought of when I saw it).

I really love [name_f]Serafina[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Sera[/name_f] is so cute too. Not too sure on [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] lol but the others are pretty!

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - I love this name, just not with a brother called [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. To me, [name_f]Willa[/name_f]'s brother is something more vintage classic like [name_u]Everett[/name_u], or something nature-fresh like [name_u]River[/name_u] (to copy [name_f]Keri[/name_f] [name_m]Russell[/name_m]) or [name_m]Nash[/name_m]. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] feel stylistically dissimilar.

[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - I don’t have a problem with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] in the “cup of tea” department, but way more so than [name_f]Willa[/name_f], I have an issue with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] being far and away different than [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. Maybe it’s the fact that they are historically from such different countries, that the style feels so off, or maybe it’s that [name_u]Luca[/name_u] has this romantic, playful, yet sturdy image, yet [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] feels no-nonsense. It’s jarring for me.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is stylistically a good match for [name_u]Luca[/name_u], and she matches the perk factor, too. Your comment about a discussion leaves me wary, and I think you might be feeling wary as well? What about [name_f]Mia[/name_f], or [name_f]Mira[/name_f] ([name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]?)?

[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - Again, stylistically on point with [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. I’ve always found [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] overly flouncy, but perhaps that’s because I’m biased with a sister called [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]. If you don’t want a [name_f]Sera[/name_f] - and, hey, the kid may want to go by [name_f]Sera[/name_f], so be it, right? - call her [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] and make that name known! Simple.

[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] feels like your safest bet here to me. I feel weird calling [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] safe, but it works the best style and image wise, and the conflict level seems low.

I do think you could go so many places to match [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. Names like [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], [name_f]Ileana[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Rhea[/name_f], [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Sarina[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], [name_f]Verena[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], even simple names like [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u]…

This might be a silly question but is your [name_u]Luca[/name_u] a boy? Until recently this wouldn’t have occurred to me to even ask but I’ve seen [name_u]Luca[/name_u] coming up as a girl’s name. If [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is a girl I think [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] works as they are both strong and unfussy on girls, but if not, I don’t think it does. Which might sound odd, but there you have it!

I really like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_f]Serafina[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] with a longer surname, whereas [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] Longsurnamehere will be a mouthful!

[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] will get [name_f]Sera[/name_f] because it’s a short-cut nickname, rather than a full on nickname (in this case I’m thinking [name_f]Fifi[/name_f]), however I don’t think this means [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] will be completely lost. For example, My [name_f]Luella[/name_f] gets [name_f]Lu[/name_f] a bit when I’m trying to get her attention because it’s a shortcut. I imagine when I’m calling her on the playground down the road, I’ll call out “Luuuuu”, but she is called [name_f]Luella[/name_f] more often and that is how I introduce her. Friends and family have done the same: [name_f]Lu[/name_f] 20% of the time and [name_f]Luella[/name_f] %80. Okay, and just the occasional [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] which is more nickname-y nickname rather than a shortcut nickname (yup I’ve classified different types of nicknames). [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] is a syllable longer, but I think it’s a little comparable. My sis is [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] and she is sometimes [name_f]Becca[/name_f] but mostly [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] and never ever [name_f]Becky[/name_f].

I guess I’m saying if you want her to be [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] and are okay with the occasional [name_f]Sera[/name_f] then that’s what you’ll get. If you never want to hear [name_f]Sera[/name_f], this isn’t the name for you, or maybe try calling her [name_f]Fina[/name_f] as a sometimes nickname (which I think is darling). If you will be sad if SHE chooses to go by [name_f]Sera[/name_f] nearly exclusively later in life then it also isn’t the name for you. But I think it sounds great with [name_u]Luca[/name_u].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!

[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] is beautiful! What about [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Camila[/name_f] as alternatives to [name_f]Mila[/name_f]? I think they go wonderfully with [name_u]Luca[/name_u]

I really love [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] are such a lovely match together. If you like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], what about selecting a longer name and using it as a nickname, ex: [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]?

[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

Honestly, some others shared my similar thoughts on some of your names. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong, they’re all nice choices, but stylistically, some of them feel very left field with [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and your Italian last name. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is very playful yet sophisticated and… well, Italian.

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - very sweet and I like it, but it sounds bizarre next to [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. She sounds all country bumpkin to me.

[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - I am a person who does like the name [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]. It always reminds me of [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_m]Bueller[/name_m]'s girlfriend. Again, it sounds totally awkward with [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and an Italian last name.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - We’re getting warmer here with [name_f]Mila[/name_f], but if a friend already has interest in it requiring you to have a chat… I don’t know, I feel like you’d REALLY have to have your heart set in it for it to be worth it. I do love the suggestion of [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] nn [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or even [name_f]Millie[/name_f].

[name_f]Serafina[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - This is my favorite choice as a sister for [name_u]Luca[/name_u] with an Italian last name. [name_f]Every[/name_f] person I’ve known with an -ina" ending has gone by [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. I know a [name_f]Christina[/name_f] and an [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] - both go by [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. Which I think would be precious and awesome with [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. I’ve also heard of [name_f]Fia[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Serafina[/name_f]. So no, you’re not destined for [name_f]Sera[/name_f].

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is my favorite!

I do like [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] with [name_u]Luca[/name_u] as they both are gender neutral names. Another nickname for [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] is [name_f]Fina[/name_f]. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is great!

Try these Italian firsts:

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Maura[/name_f] [name_f]Serafine[/name_f]
[name_f]Simona[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Giana[/name_f] [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] best! I don’t know if you are open to suggestions on MNs, but instead of [name_u]June[/name_u], would you also consider:
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]?
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f]?
Maybe not for [name_f]Serafina[/name_f], but if you go with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or [name_f]Willa[/name_f], it may sound nice.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]

Also, [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_f]Milana[/name_f], or [name_f]Milena[/name_f] are great names; you can still get the NN [name_f]Mila[/name_f]/[name_f]Milla[/name_f] from them.
[name_f]Milena[/name_f] is really lovely. [name_f]Milana[/name_f] is a girl’s name for the city of [name_u]Milan[/name_u] in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] of course.

[name_f]Milena[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Milena[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].

My favorite is [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. Second choice would be [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. You might like [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u].

I really like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is nice but I’m a strong believer in not stealing names. If she is really serious about using it I wouldn’t put her in an awkward situation where she is forced to let you down or give up a favorite name. I know it’s sad but you have some nice alternatives yo choose from. The only problem is that [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] both are 2 syllables ending with A so they are a little similar for my taste. If you like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] what about [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f] (maybe too close to [name_f]Mila[/name_f]), [name_f]Lila[/name_f], or Island? [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

There is no such thing as name stealing. No one has or will be thrown in jail for using a name that someone else has stated they want to use. We are all allowed to choose the names we love and adore (except countries with certain rules). If others like the same name, so be it.

My favourite is definitely [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] goes really well with [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. There are plenty of other nicknames for [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] and I love [name_f]Fia[/name_f] as some PPs have mentioned. She doesn’t have to go by [name_f]Sera[/name_f].

My favorite is [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]! I think it is a perfect fit with sister [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. I also think [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] is a great choice, works lovely as a sister for [name_u]Luca[/name_u].
