[name_f]Iris[/name_f]! I just love the history, mythological association, the floral connection… so pretty! Plus it has a unique sound (a lot of the popular girls names end in -a and -ra plus there are the rhyming names with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]-- [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f]).
I agree with pp! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a beautiful name, although I’m probably biased because it’s also my own name!
My father named me [name_f]Iris[/name_f] after he saw a replica of [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] van Gogh’s painting of irises. He thought they were the prettiest flowers he’d ever seen, so on a whim, he returned home with a birth certificate of a baby named [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I’m so glad he did this, otherwise my name would be [name_f]Regina[/name_f] [name_f]Christina[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f], especially because of [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] (I’m a huge fan of her and her late father [name_m]Ravi[/name_m] Shankar), however in my language nora is the word for daughter-in-law, which makes it unusable.
I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is stunning.
I absolutely love and adore both names, but I voted for [name_f]Nora[/name_f], as it has the slight edge for me as it was my grandma’s name.
I think they’re both absolutely lovely! I can’t pick. I prefer [name_f]Norah[/name_f] when it’s the full first name, so if you’re really committed to the [name_f]Nora[/name_f] spelling I guess I’d vote for [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. Otherwise I’d keep both in consideration and see what she looks like when she’s born.
Both are beautiful! [name_f]Nora[/name_f] wins by a hair.
You really can’t go wrong with either one. I voted for [name_f]Iris[/name_f] just because it’s a bit less popular ([name_f]Nora[/name_f] is in the top 85 I think, [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is mid 200’s)
I prefer [name_f]Iris[/name_f] myself. The flowers are lovely, the Mythology and meaning of ‘rainbow’ are brilliant, and I like the eye connection too - ‘the eyes are the window to the soul’.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] would be a gorgeous combo.
I voted for [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. While I like both names, I think I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a nickname.
I think both names are great, and both are timeless. My vote is [name_f]Iris[/name_f] because of its clean simplicity, as well as it being sweet and strong, its the best of both worlds with being a strong name with a delicate association.
I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. It was on my long list for my little girl. I’m in the minority here but I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
They’re both gorgeous. I’d go with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] simply because it’s a bit more unexpected than [name_f]Nora[/name_f], which is becoming rather popular. You really can’t go wrong with either though!
