I also thought [name_u]Loki[/name_u]! But not being used together, I think they’d be fine. Although [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] & [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] make a real good sibset. Plus there are plenty of other associations for both names, so even then I think it would be okay in a few years.
I voted for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] but I prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] NN [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with sister [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].
OK! Then I would choose Ramona for you!
Both are great choices! I slightly prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and I don’t think it’s nicknamey at all, It’s just another name ending in “ie”, like [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_u]Julie[/name_u].
I don’t think you can really go wrong with either, but I vote [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] just vibes better with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].
Theres a [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] in Loki??
[name_m]Ah[/name_m] I love [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but my husband isn’t a fan (hung up on the “blind” meaning) and he also thinks it sounds too similar to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. There are a few others we considered, too, like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but decided there are too many similar names that are all popular now, like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] etc. We also love [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] maybe as a middle name, but it feels out there and it’s hard to justify when we have no connection to the city!
I love both names but I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is a better match for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I find the similar endings of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] a bit repetitive and although [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] isn’t a nickname as such it feels a bit abrupt next to longer and more florid [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] to me. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] holds her own with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and has just as much flavour whilst still being lovely and complimentary. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] seems the perfect sibset to me!
Same here! Our [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] was almost [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but ended up [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] since we thought [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] was becoming more popular. I’ve also always like Evanee, [name_f]Ida[/name_f], and [name_f]Sena[/name_f]. There’s always [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] too!
Names that remind me of [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]: [name_f]Dessa[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Octavie[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
That’s hilarious, ours is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Cay[/name_u] (Cay was my husband’s late mom’s name), and we were considering [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] for this one. We are basically living parallel lives!
That’s amazing!!! Can’t wait to hear what you choose
I’d pick [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] sounds a tad heavy and clunky next to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] in my personal opinion but both are nice.
I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]! It’s very sweet and pretty, but, like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], it’s not over-the-top frilly or fancy. I’m sure you already know this, but maybe it would help to remember that [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is not a nickname but the [name_u]French[/name_u] version of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. Also, it doesn’t sound cutesy. It’s no more informal than [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I understand though because I’m not a “nicknames-as-full-names” person either.
I have trouble imagining [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] on a young person, and this is coming from someone who spent her childhood reading and loving the [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m] books. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] was a curious little girl, but her name seemed old and starchy to me.
sylvie and felicity are wonderful together in theory, but i have to agree with some previous commenters that they sound too similar. i much prefer felicity and ramona. they work so wonderfully as sisters; similar, but each distinct in their own way!
I voted [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], though I think [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] would match [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] a bit better, and maybe ease your husband’s concerns about it being too nicknamey.
Oh, such a difficult choice as I really love both! [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] has been a recent love as I noticed it monogrammed on a child’s sweater in a store and instantly fell in love. I would describe just as your husband has, substantial yet very charming. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is also very lovely. Has a [name_u]French[/name_u], chic vibe that feels like a fresh(er) [name_f]Sophie[/name_f].
Ultimately I chose [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] as I prefer it with sister [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].
@RandomWord747 I thought the character’s name was Ravonna, not [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].
I personally love both names!! [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] was a name my DH and I considered for baby #2, and I pitched [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] a bunch of times but my DH never came around.
[name_f]My[/name_f] vote is for [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] because I can’t help but associate the name with the [name_u]Beverly[/name_u] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m] series and it’s so strong and spunky!
Nice! What did you end up going with for your kids? Always curious to see where people with similar taste end up!
100% [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]! Mo/moe is a cute nickname and this name is just so funky and powerful and kick arse. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] sounds like a slip of a girl who will fall away with a breath of wind. I know which one I’d rather be
Plus I agree with a number of previous posters that [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] sound very similar to me. Is trip up saying their names close together (or make the parenting sin of substitution!). [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] could be an alternative if you don’t fancy [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].
We’re going with [name_f]Lina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] for our daughter due in [name_u]November[/name_u]!
