Maybe I’m boring but I prefer the most common spellings [name_u]Sage[/name_u] (I’ve never seen [name_u]Saige[/name_u] before), [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] - though [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] was close since I have met a couple Jaynes.
I prefer [name_u]Sage[/name_u] because it looks a lot nicer to me and I like the connection to wisdom and the herb. [name_u]Saige[/name_u] looks like a misspelling to be “unique” or something in my mind.
Maya feels … sexier(?) to me (that feels so weird to say about a name, but idk how else to describe it ). [name_f]Maia[/name_f] is nice too, though.
Jayne is just odd to me. Looks like another “unique” attempt. Same with [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] vs [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] vs [name_f]Mollie[/name_f].
Sage – spelled like the word
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] – this one is always a toss-up for me, but today I prefer this spelling
[name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] – I don’t like the superfluous “y”
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] – I generally prefer “y” endings to “ie” endings.
I feel like which spelling I prefer is not a fixed thing and could change on a whim! So I’ve voted on what looked and felt most pleasing today! That was [name_u]Sage[/name_u] - it’s a name I really like because it’s concise yet soft and I feel like the concise spelling goes with it. I like the look of the i in [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. I like y’s in the middle of names so I chose [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f], but if I was naming an actual human I’d stuck to [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]! I did warn you, I am fickle I like the y in [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. ([name_f]My[/name_f] reason for liking [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f] contradicts my preference for [name_f]Maia[/name_f], I realise! In a nutshell, my preferences appear to have no rhyme or reason to them!)
Sage absolutely. The I in [name_u]Saige[/name_u] is unnecessary and takes away from the lovely botanical association.
I prefer the origin/meaning of [name_f]Maia[/name_f] but really for me it’s pretty 50/50 between [name_f]Maia[/name_f] and [name_f]Maya[/name_f].
Jane. I don’t have an issue with [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] but the Y just feels unnecessary.
And the only one where I deviate a little from commonality is [name_f]Mollie[/name_f]. Both spellings are valid linguitic variants and in general I prefer -ie endings over -y endings where they appropriately apply.
(I also prefer [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] to [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], for example.)
Another option for [name_f]Molly[/name_f] could be M@li - I have a relative with this name and have always found it to be lovely! She likes it too, because it’s a slight twist to make it unique but still nice and simple.
I prefer [name_u]Sage[/name_u] to [name_u]Saige[/name_u]… the I is superfluous imo. [name_f]Maya[/name_f] looks more complete than [name_f]Maia[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] looks like a name while [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f] looks a little to creative to me, and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is the same way.
As for [name_f]Jane[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Jayne[/name_f], I prefer both. The simplicity of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is great, but [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] has another meaning besides being a variation of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and I love the second meaning just as much.
Sage (although I don’t dislike [name_u]Saige[/name_u]. I’d likely only use [name_u]Sage[/name_u] though)
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] (looks simpler to me than [name_f]Maya[/name_f] due to the way the “y” goes under the line)
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] (same as [name_f]Maia[/name_f]/Maya with the “y” thing)
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
Sage- as a word name, I like it to be spelled the same as the word (the herb and the wise person).
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]- I think this spelling is simpler and more intuitive.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]- The y in “[name_f]Jayne[/name_f]” seems superfluous, and I prefer “[name_f]Jane[/name_f]”'s classic charm.
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]- This spelling seems more intuitive.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]- I generally prefer y endings to ie endings, and I think this spelling is more familiar.
