I voted no. [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] just sounds very…plain. I also don’t like the spelling. I know a boy named [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and find it much nicer than a girl named [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], I can’t figure out why.
I’m surprised people are saying no. I know two female [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]'s.
Definitely a girl name.
Maybe they’re answering if they like it or not.
I agree with the above, I know a few female Leighs.
I voted maybe. Is it pronounced like “ley” or “[name_u]Lee[/name_u]” ? If it’s pronounced like [name_u]Lee[/name_u] then I’m not a fan of it on a girl, but it’s not unusable
Is it usable, yeah definitely, but am I fan, no, not really.
I’d prefer it as a nickname to [name_u]Leighton[/name_u].
It’s a baby boomer name to me! I don’t love it.
I like it but I like [name_u]Leighton[/name_u] nn [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] even better.
I know a woman named [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] and she is delightful, so I always associate [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] as pleasant. And then there’s [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. I know it’s her last name, but she was so incredibly gorgeous, as is her name.
Oops, yes that’s how I voted. I read the poll title but didn’t consider it meaning a girl (as opposed to boys name), just is this a nice name for a girl. Although I actually greatly prefer [name_u]Lee[/name_u] to [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] even for a girl.
Girl names ending in -ley are very trendy right now and Liegh would sound incomplete and dated next to classmates like [name_m]Everley[/name_m], [name_f]Waverley[/name_f], and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
I wouldn’t use it personally but I definitely think it’s usuable on a girl!
I’m surprised that people are saying no, [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is the most popular spelling for the name on a girl where I live, and I don’t like [name_u]Lee[/name_u] on a girl at all, but the spelling [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] makes it so much more usable to me
I’m really surprised by how many no votes there are. I know multiple females named [name_u]Lee[/name_u]/[name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. Maybe it depends on where you live??
I’m assuming you mean it as a first name - I voted no. The pronunciation is a little too ambiguous ([name_m]Lay[/name_m] or [name_u]Lee[/name_u]), and people might not spell it right when they hear it. It looks a little eh for my taste, but I do like the [name_u]Lee[/name_u] spelling (and pronunciation) - it seems more intuitive, and more snappy.
