Pomeline or Cressida

Funny that the next two posts down are about [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and ‘ine’ names, are they the next ‘big thing’ ?
Anyway DH and I were all set on [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] if our next baby turns out to be a girl, [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] (after my father). However my son has started to call the baby PomPom and a few weeks ago I suggested [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] as a name. He said no way! Ridiculous name
Two weeks later he asks me what the funny name I suggested was that gave us PomPom as a nickname. I told him again ‘[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]’ and he loves it!

Soo [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]?
and [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is funny sounding isn’t it? So maybe we will have to change that

I think [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] is a name trying too hard so I go for [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] is not really my style, but I understand the appeal. Your son can still call her PomPom (adorable) on his own. Maybe even bring her home with a PomPom hat etc?

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - Pomellina has existed since the middle ages, so it’s quite an old name. Pomelline is a middle name of one of the daughters of the [name_f]Princess[/name_f] of Monaco, so your [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] would be in good company. I, personally, prefer [name_f]Pomona[/name_f] but there isn’t anything wrong with [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]. I don’t think it matches well with [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], so I’d rethink the middle name.

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - these names match well. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is a lovely name.

Both [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] are perfectly fine choices choose the one you love.

I love [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]! Gorgeous name and I love nn PomPom. So cute!

thanks guys although think there’s such a difference of opinion I’m still not sure either way!! [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] seems like one of those names people either love or hate!
I didn’t think about pronounciation, I just say [name_m]Pom[/name_m] ah leen but you’re right maybe people will say [name_m]Pom[/name_m] ah line? Not sure how it’s technically supposed to be pronounced.
Anyway decided it might be nice to have two names to go to hospital with anyway we didn’t do this the first time around so just to rummage up a nickname now…[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]? [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]…

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] sounds better and it is better name. I like [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f], but feel it is too hard to wear.

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] is my favorite and the story behind it is both adorable and memorable. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is a lovely name too, but has always come across to me as one of those very posh, trying-too-hard names, usually the name of some pseudo rich intelectual’s daughter, maybe because it’s how I’ve seen characters of these names being portrayed. [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] is a very cute, happy and quirky name and I think it would really stand out in a more refreshing way. If one day your daughter grows out of PomPom, she could always go by [name_u]Mel[/name_u] or [name_f]Lina[/name_f].
