Pomeline's sister

What would you call pomeline’s sister? Considering clementine as it maybe normalises pomeline a bit? [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] was second choice with her but I’m not convinced.

From your signature, my favorite sister names are [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. I think they could tone down [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f], if that is what you are seeking, without seeming too matchy, which would be my concern with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]?

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] means ‘apple’, and [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] means ‘island of apples’.

I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is too rhymey & themey with [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]. [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] is lovely, but I understand it not clicking. I can never consider my backup name for the next child… it just feels like it wasn’t quite good enough for my first, so it seems like a lesser name to give my next child…
I love the names in your signature. [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] especially. If you’re looking for other ideas maybe you’d like [name_f]Coretta[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Henriette[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Milena[/name_f]. Good luck.

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]'s sister - that’s a tough brief!

I agree that [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] feels a tad samey, though I personally pronounce the endings differently. If you like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and you like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], how do you feel about [name_f]Clemency[/name_f]?

[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] I think is absolutely fabulous, but I think it sounds more like a sister to [name_m]Casper[/name_m] than to [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f], if that makes sense? Super cool name though!

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] from your signature seem to go nicely too. Here are a few more suggestions:

[name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] (maybe not so “normal”, though!)
[name_f]Viveca[/name_f]
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rafaela[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] would be fabulous together!

Or, maybe…

[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Flavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
Ismeria
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Viviette[/name_f]

[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] is pretty.

I like [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] better than [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] with [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]. I’d go with another [name_m]French[/name_m] or a longish vintage name.

Some possibilities:

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] and

[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Angelique[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonella[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Bertille[/name_f]
[name_f]Bettina[/name_f]
[name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Cendrillon[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Emeraude[/name_f]
[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]
[name_f]Forsythia[/name_f]
[name_f]Frederica[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgette[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f]
Ivelisse
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
Logistilla
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucinde[/name_f]
[name_f]Marchelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Melisande[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]/Millicente
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Musette[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
Olymphe
Rohais
[name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]
Sylvanie
[name_f]Tempeste[/name_f]
Vignette
[name_f]Violette[/name_f]
[name_f]Yolanthe[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]’s sister deserves to have a name just as pretty and distinctive as hers.

From your signature, I like [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] best. Especially if you pronounce it “Oh [name_m]TEEL[/name_m] yeh”.

Good luck!

[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is my favorite from your signature too. I like katinka’s suggestion of [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f].

[name_f]Cecile[/name_f]
[name_f]Eudora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]

I agree that a uniquely fabulous name for [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]'s
sister would be great. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]?

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]
Bixby
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Aracely[/name_f]
Joviah
[name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_f]Vanora[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
Zanorrah
Zanoa
[name_u]Abilene[/name_u]
Maricina
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]

Thanks!
I was worried about the rhyme although we call our pomeline [name_m]Pom[/name_m]-a-leen and would say clem-en-tine like line.
I think you’re right needs to be equally unique, need to work harder! I did hope for something that would tie both kids together but xanthe I agree seems more ‘like’ [name_m]Casper[/name_m]. I keep getting drawn to rhyming words like vesper and [name_f]Hester[/name_f].
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] but my she has avoided it with both our other kids so have a feeling it’s a no go!
Was considering [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] as he/she will be born in [name_f]October[/name_f] but I’m not sure what we would shorten it to.
I like calliope, we discussed [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] but can’t have another ‘cas’
[name_m]Will[/name_m] reread the lists! Thanks for the ideas

I’m liking suggestions of leonora and fenella, we’ve thought about that in the past, I love nell and my family from the isle of Mann and fenella is a Manx name.
[name_f]Antonella[/name_f] would do the same nn so liking that, also georgette I had thought of, my sister is [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] though so think that rules it out.
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] is pretty, would never have thought of that!
Thanks!

What about talitha? [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] vivian

If you love [name_f]Nell[/name_f], I have what I think is the perfect sister name to [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]: [name_f]Arianell[/name_f]. It’s of Welsh origin and means “silver” and it’s on my first name list, along with [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] (I like the nns [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] for them).

The combined meaning (“silver apple”) also reminds me of the wonderful poem Moonlit Apples by [name_m]John[/name_m] Drinkwater.

From the other suggestions, Henrietta jumps out at me.

I like many of your listed choices below. [name_f]Tangerine[/name_f] is cool, and [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] is luscious and minty. [name_f]Tamarind[/name_f]? [name_f]Eglantine[/name_f]? [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]? [name_f]Ghislaine[/name_f]?

[name_f]Arianell[/name_f] is gorgeous, great thought!
