Devery [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f]: This is pronounced [name_m]Dev[/name_m]-ry and is the name of one of my characters in a series I’m creating. I’ve loved it forever, but my fiancee is not really on board. However, he likes this combo.
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u] [name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f]: Initials would be [name_u]TAJ[/name_u], which we’d love to use as a nickname…

Sorry, I just can’t get on board with the Devery or [name_u]Tierney[/name_u]. Devery because it will constantly be mispronounced and looks like [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] and appears to be made up. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] because it doesn’t sound like a strong, intelligent woman’s name to me. Sounds weak and ditzy. Sorry! Obviously…just my opinions!
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the honesty. Devery is not made up at all, but is a very old surname. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] is a new addition to our list that I’ve been rolling around. I’m not sure I like it all that much. [name_u]Tavi[/name_u] is still much better for me…so yeah, just playing at this point, though I am really loving [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f].
[name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] [name_u]Peru[/name_u] - [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] is very pretty; would you have a nickname? [name_u]Peru[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Marian[/name_u] Paroo from “The [name_f]Music[/name_f] [name_m]Man[/name_m]”.
Othella [name_f]Starling[/name_f] - [name_m]Othello[/name_m] from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] always pops into my mind, and I can’t get past that character. [name_f]Starling[/name_f] reminds me of the pesky little flocks that eat up my birdseed.
Devery [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] - Devery is new to me; my mind tries to match it up with other similar names/words. [name_u]Avery[/name_u] - Devery or Dickory - Devery, also Dairy - Devery. I also hear Debery or DuBarry when I say it and pronounce it different ways. I have heard of Devony/Deveney. [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] is an underused name that I like very much. Maybe misheard as [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] from time to time, but a very sweet name all in all.
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u] [name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f] - [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] always makes me think of the beautiful [name_u]Gene[/name_u] [name_u]Tierney[/name_u]. I like this name very much, then someone brings up how it sounds a lot like tyranny (killjoys). [name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f] is the food of the gods, and my mother made an orange and coconut concoction she called ambrosia, so I basically think of food when the see [name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f].
[name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] [name_u]Peru[/name_u] is really great, it’s balanced really well and I like [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] a lot. [name_u]Peru[/name_u] makes a really cool and quirky middle- I like it
Makes me wonder if I could fit [name_u]Cuba[/name_u] as a middle name on my list somewhere
Othella [name_f]Starling[/name_f] is also nice and would fit in with your other names very well
Sorry but I don’t like [name_u]Tierney[/name_u], I don’t really like those faux-irish names on girls like [name_u]Shannon[/name_u] or [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] that wouldn’t actually be used in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], but I think thats just me and I love irish surnames on boys (including [name_u]Tiernan[/name_u] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]) so I’m not sure what my problem with those names is…
I agree with a pp that Devery looks kind of made up and it seems kind of strange to name a child after a character you created
