Pooper?

Does [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] rhyming with pooper make it unusable for you?
The combo would be [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m]

[name_m]Cooper[/name_m] is a really handsome name! Its playful and ages well, imo.

In all honesty though, my partner grew up with a kid name [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] and they gave him the nn Pooper… and still address him as that.

But I think that really depends on your circle of friends sense of humor.

Nahh I wouldn’t worry about it. About every name has something “wrong” with it, but it’s particularly noticeable to you once you start examining it.

It wasn’t until about a month ago, upon my mentioning it, that my mom realized my brother’s name rhymes with “fat”. He’s in his late twenties.

If kids want to give you a mean nickname, they most likely will regardless of whether they can make one out of your name or have to make it up fresh.

Not a big deal!

Thank you so much! Makes me feel better that you don’t see it as a dealbreaker because we really like this name! Everyone always has such a positive reaction to our son [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]’s name and I want the same reaction to this baby too not strange poop comments every time”

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you see this as a very popular name? [name_m]Will[/name_m] be be one of 5 Coopers in his class?

I’ve known a couple of boys named [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] and none of them have been called “pooper”. It’s been in the top 100 for about ten years, hovering around #80. He will likely meet other boys with his name but certainly not five in his class. As I said, I think I’ve only met two boys with the name. One is my age and the other is almost 5.

I have a similar experience with the name. My father, my brother, and I each know one person our own age with this name so I’m sure he will meet someone with the same name which is fine. I just don’t want it to be too popular where it causes confusion in class.
I’m glad neither of them get called pooper!

[name_m]Cooper[/name_m] is popular enough that I don’t think Pooper will be a problem. I think that way about [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]. Because it’s uncommon, people will likely think of F*cker, but if it was common, people would think of it as a seperate word (name) entirely.

I’ve got a cousin called [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] and I’ve honestly never thought of the Pooper connection.

My mind has never made that connection before. I don’t think the rhyme makes it unusable at all!

I wouldn’t be too worried about it! It isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, at least. Truthfully, I’ve never loved the “[name_m]Coop[/name_m]” sound in [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], but I don’t think that’s because it sounds like ‘poop’. If you like it you should go for it!

Of course, nobody can guarantee you won’t ever hear silly nicknames, but that’s true no matter what you call him.

I remember being in a hospital waiting room with a crying little boy, about 2 years old. I overheard what he was so upset about and it still makes me laugh today. He had gotten himself worked up into a tantrum because he was convinced the doctor was going to call him “[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] Poo-ben”! Apparently, no name is safe from waste-related puns.

So yeah - I think [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] will be fine!

I believe he will definitely hear Pooper [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], but its not a big deal and there are worse names that rhyme with worse things so I wouldnt worry. Kids will be kids!
