Poor Ruthie :(

Sorry for any repeats.

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name] from your list is darling.
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Mim[/name] / [name]Mimi[/name]. I think it’s adorable, and they still have grown up names to fall back on)
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Gracie[/name] might be too much, but I’m on a cutesy streak lately.

My Grandma’s name is [name]Ruthia[/name]. I always thought it was a nice feminine alternative to [name]Ruth[/name].

I like [name]Ruth[/name]/[name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name].

I think [name]Ruthie[/name] goes just fine with [name]Laurel[/name] or [name]Ivy[/name]. They might be nature names, but they both have a long enough history of use to be the name of some old lady somewhere. [name]Laurel[/name] peaked in the 1950s, and [name]Ivy[/name] was as popular in 1880 as it is now = ). And that way both you & your husband get names you love!

[name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] also sounds great to me…actually almost any flower name. I think floral names were very in vogue right around when [name]Ruth[/name] was also the height of cool.

You could also use [name]Rue[/name] as a nickname for [name]Ruth[/name], which is a flower.

I view [name]Ruth[/name] as a very no-nonsense kind of name. If you do use [name]Ruth[/name], I think [name]Hannah[/name] is the best fit. It’s nice and feminine without being too far afield from [name]Ruth[/name].

You know I love [name]Ruth[/name]!
To me, [name]Ruth[/name] is lovely, wholesome biblical classic. A strong name. I also think the lengthening of [name]Ruth[/name] to create a cute nickname with [name]Ruthie[/name] is delightful. Your husband obviously loves [name]Ruth[/name] your having twins and even though I think the mother should have the final say as she’s doing most the leg work I think it’s fair that you stick with [name]Ruth[/name] and have your naming style with the second twin. But I do think [name]Ruth[/name] works better with shorter names in a twist set. For me I think [name]Ruth[/name] & [name]Eleanora[/name] is strange as they lack the flow because their so different but [name]Ruth[/name] & [name]Ellen[/name] works due to the similar shortness and feel.

My thoughts on the names:
[name]Hannah[/name] - I’m not keen on [name]Hannah[/name] for me she feels bland and I wouldn’t want to limit my naming choices by just using religious choices for the girls as you may feel obligated to give future children religious choices.

[name]Lucy[/name] - Again I’m not keen on [name]Lucy[/name], I dislike the ‘loose’ in [name]Lucy[/name] and the fact that she feels predictable.

[name]Annabel[/name] - I love this choice, [name]Annabel[/name] is light feminine and pretty this is also my favourite spelling. [name]Annabel[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] ‘[name]Ruthie[/name]’ work perfectly together and reflect both your naming styles.

[name]Felicity[/name] - Again I love this name. I also like how both [name]Felicity[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] work together because even though their feminine there both strong frill-lacking names. I think [name]Felicity[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] work the best as they feel similar in style compared to the other choices. [name]Annabel[/name] being maybe slightly to girly and [name]Katherine[/name] slightly to long next to short [name]Ruth[/name]. [name]Flick[/name] & [name]Ruthie[/name] are cute!

[name]Katherine[/name] - Another beautiful choice. [name]Katherine[/name] is grown up, elegant and pretty. I also love [name]Kate[/name] as the nickname. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Katherine[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] obviously go as there both vintage classics I think [name]Katherine[/name] may be too ‘long’ compared to [name]Ruth[/name] making the twin set visually strange.

Suggestions:
[name]Eliza[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - I think this combination is rather spunky and quirky. [name]Eliza[/name] adds a quirkness to [name]Ruth[/name] and makes her seem less ‘formal’.

[name]Vivian[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - My favourite spelling is [name]Vivienne[/name] this spelling today is joint second with [name]Vivien[/name]. But I feel [name]Vivian[/name] is pretty and works so well with [name]Ruth[/name]. The names feel similar.

[name]Juliet[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - I think [name]Juliet[/name] adds some feminine ‘jazz’ to the combination. It’s pretty especially with the stability of [name]Ruth[/name].

[name]Violet[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - A very retro almost ‘hipster’ combination, it’s pretty and cool in a good way.

[name]Eva[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - I like the pairing because their both stable feminine classics also ‘[name]Evie[/name]’ and ‘[name]Ruthie[/name]’ are cute. Furthermore [name]Eva[/name] has a kick to her, with the beautiful associations of [name]Eva[/name] [name]Cassidy[/name] and her voice.

[name]Serena[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - Polar opposites but I like the fact that they seem to work with the ‘r’ nicknames of [name]Rena[/name] & [name]Ruthie[/name].

[name]Grace[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - throwing out a religious inspired combination that isn’t overly strong like [name]Ruth[/name] & [name]Mary[/name] for example.

[name]Jessica[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] - A simple feminine combination.

[name]Hope[/name] this helped x

Of your original suggestions I love [name]Ruthie[/name] & [name]Hannah[/name] and [name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Anabelle[/name].

Of your list of favorites I love [name]Ruthie[/name] & [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Ruthie[/name] & [name]Ivy[/name].

Any of these combos are charming in my opinion!

Personally I’m a major [name]Ruth[/name] fan!
I love understated classics, my favourite girl’s name is [name]Jane[/name] this is followed by [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] at this precise moment. These names are not flamboyant and even though I love the frilly classics of [name]Evangelina[/name] I think understated is perfect. Also I feel that you’d be able to express your naming style perfectly with [name]Ruth[/name] as long as the names are kept short. For instance in my eyes I think for the twins the pairing [name]Ruth[/name] & [name]Isadora[/name] is strange but the pairing of [name]Ruth[/name] & [name]Isabel[/name] fine.

Your potential choices:
[name]Hannah[/name] - I’m not a [name]Hannah[/name] fan for me she’s bland and lacking
[name]Lucy[/name] - I don’t think she works with [name]Ruthie[/name] a little to rhyme-like nevertheless if it did work I wouldn’t use [name]Lucy[/name] as I dislike her.
[name]Annabel[/name] - Very elegant, my favourite spelling as well. [name]Annabel[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] do work together but I wonder whether [name]Annabel[/name] is slightly too feminine and maybe needs to be more understated.
[name]Felicity[/name] - I think this name works better with [name]Ruth[/name], simply because [name]Felicity[/name] is a retro understated classic and comes with the nickname [name]Flick[/name] which I think has the right qualities to match up perfectly with [name]Ruthie[/name].
[name]Katherine[/name] - I love [name]Katherine[/name], she’s beautiful, elegant and timely but I think she’s a little to long for [name]Ruth[/name], for a twin set if that makes sense.

Suggestions:
[name]Eliza[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Serena[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Eva[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Jessica[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Ellen[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Fay[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Laura[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name] & [name]Ruth[/name] (my favourite spelling is [name]Vivienne[/name] but [name]Vivian[/name] works better with [name]Ruth[/name])

[name]Hope[/name] this helps x

I love [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Ruth[/name]/ie. they have the same vintage charm and it really works well! I think [name]Hannah[/name] would be a nice choice too, since they’re both biblical.

Wow, thanks everyone! It helps SO much to know that some of my favorites like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] still go with [name]Ruth[/name]! WOOT!

I do like [name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabelle[/name] a lot too. If my hubby agrees to any of these, I’ll be thrilled.

[name]Katherine[/name] would definitely be a [name]Kate[/name], not a [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Katie[/name] or [name]Kathy[/name].

Thank you so much for all the suggestions!!

I suggest [name]Junia[/name] with [name]Ruth[/name]/[name]Ruthie[/name].

I know a lovely 16 year old [name]Ruth[/name] so I don’t think of it as ‘old lady’ at all - I think [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Hannah[/name] would be a delicious pairing.

I think Roo would also be an adorable nn for [name]Ruth[/name] but [name]Ruthie[/name] is Pretty too! I really like [name]Eve[/name] with [name]Ruth[/name]… I think [name]Evie[/name] and Roo/[name]Ruthie[/name] would be sooooo cute!!

I happen to like old lady names  here are some i like… feminine but not overly so?

[name]Florence[/name](floss, flo, wren… Roo and [name]Wren[/name] are totally adorable together!!)
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Tilly[/name])
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] (willa)
[name]Theodora[/name] (teddy)
[name]Harriet[/name] ([name]Hattie[/name])

You could also give [name]Ruth[/name] a girly middle! I really like [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Florence[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] or [name]Florence[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] (Roo and [name]Wren[/name]) or [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] [name]Lucia[/name]/[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Evie[/name])

[name]Just[/name] one more suggestion: [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Florence[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] (tied with reverse initials) plus with [name]Wren[/name] and Roo as nn’s I’m swooning!!

From your list I really like [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name]. [name]Lucy[/name]'s the only one that really wouldn’t fly (with [name]Ruthie[/name] as a nn. [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] is fine).
From the names your husband just thought were OK I think [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] are really stand outs - and since you’re clearly not more than OK with the name [name]Ruth[/name], he should be and just be OK with [name]Rose[/name]!

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] works but I do think [name]Felicity[/name] is a little frilly. [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Honor[/name], [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Grace[/name], [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Hope[/name] would be my virtue suggestions. I love the suggested combo of [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]!

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] works but I do think it’s mildly imbalanced. [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] is great! If you like [name]Anna[/name] more than [name]Hannah[/name] certainly go with it!

From suggestions: really digging [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Florence[/name], [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Alice[/name].

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name] is also solid. I like [name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Kate[/name].

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] go nicely, I just don’t think either does much to compliment the other, but it’s not at all bad.

A few more that come to mind:
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Josie[/name])
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name], or use [name]Daisy[/name]/[name]Maisie[/name] as a [name]Margaret[/name] nn?)
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Vera[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Mira[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Lulu[/name])
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Christine[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Dorothy[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Thea[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Flora[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Gloria[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Hilary[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Aileen[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Jacqueline[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Mae[/name] ([name]Mae[/name] also works as a [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Mary[/name] nn)
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Abby[/name])

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Sylvia[/name] nn [name]Sylvie[/name] or just [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name])

I think [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] sound really beautiful together. I also like [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Rose[/name]. Since you seem to be fond of flower names, how about:

[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Flora[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Marigold[/name]

[name]Just[/name] some ideas!

I think [name]Annabel[/name] would be a good match, maybe with the nickname [name]Anna[/name]. [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Ruthie[/name] sound like a good fit. I think [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] would be a good fit too.

I am going to sound the trumpet for [name]Ruth[/name]/[name]Ruthie[/name]! I really love the name and am glad to see it being used.

Of your list, I like [name]Hannah[/name] the best. I also like [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Anne[/name] (nn [name]Annie[/name]) instead of [name]Annabel[/name] with [name]Ruthie[/name].
[name]Tristan[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Janie[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] ( maybe nn [name]Mimi[/name] - [name]Mimi[/name] and [name]Ruthie[/name] are cute together) are very nice as well.

[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Suzette[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] (possible nn [name]Florie[/name])
[name]Fleur[/name]
