Poppy, Maisie, & Belle . . . WDYT?

I have 2 daughters named [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Kerr[/name] & [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Skye[/name]. What do you think of [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name] nn [name]Belle[/name] to go with [name]Poppy[/name] & [name]Maisie[/name]?

Which spelling is the best for [name]Isabel[/name]? Any middle name suggestions?

Others I like, but [name]Isabelle[/name] is the front runner right now:

[name]Matilda[/name]: nn [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Tilda[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]: nn [name]Kit[/name]/[name]Kitty[/name]
[name]Willamina[/name]: nn [name]Willa[/name] ([name]Love[/name] the nickname and [name]Willamina[/name] is growing on me)
[name]Elizabeth[/name]: nn [name]Betsey[/name]/[name]Bess[/name]

I have 2 daughters named [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Kerr[/name] & [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Skye[/name]. What do you think of [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name] nn [name]Belle[/name] to go with [name]Poppy[/name] & [name]Maisie[/name]?

I think [name]Isabel[/name] (spelled the simple way) is absolutely gorgeous, but very popular. [name]Isabelle[/name] seems more Victorian, and I tend to love more simple spellings. But that’s just me.

Any middle name suggestions?
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Frances[/name] - I think this is my fave.
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Iris[/name] - Oh, but I love this, too!
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Kaye[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Maude[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Prudence[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Saffron[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Thandie[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Winifred[/name]

Others I like, but [name]Isabelle[/name] is the front runner right now:

[name]Matilda[/name]: nn [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Tilda[/name] - My daughter has a friend named [name]Annika[/name] who is very tired of her name. I’m wondering if it’s better to give a child a more “vanilla” or bland name that they don’t get tired of saying, hearing and spelling. But I love [name]Matilda[/name] so much!
[name]Katherine[/name]: nn [name]Kit[/name]/[name]Kitty[/name] - love
[name]Willamina[/name]: nn [name]Willa[/name] ([name]Love[/name] the nickname and [name]Willamina[/name] is growing on me) - I looked up [name]Willamina[/name], and it is the Scottish version of [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. This is lovely!
[name]Elizabeth[/name]: nn [name]Betsey[/name]/[name]Bess[/name] - I always love [name]Elizabeth[/name].

What a lovely choice and [name]Isabelle[/name] nn [name]Belle[/name] is beautiful. Perfect!

[name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Jade[/name]
[name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Paige[/name]

I absolutely love your daughters’ names and nicknames!

I think that [name]Isabelle[/name] is very pretty, but like [name]Susan[/name] said, it’s very popular (which may or may not bother you). In the U.S., [name]Isabella[/name] is #2, so there are a lot of Belles and Bellas out there! With [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name], I personally like the [name]Isabel[/name] spelling, because to me, The French [name]Isabelle[/name] spelling makes it stand apart from your other daughters’ names.

Depending on how it sounds with your last name:

[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Tamsin[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] [name]Violet[/name] (Although it sounds like a question: “Is a bell violet?”)

[name]Matilda[/name]: I love it, and think it’s wonderful with your girls’ names!

[name]Katherine[/name]: I like this, too, but think that the nickname [name]Kitty[/name] is more special than the actual name.
[name]Willamina[/name]: I love [name]Willa[/name]…
[name]Elizabeth[/name]: I think that [name]Elizabeth[/name] is very pretty, but like [name]Katherine[/name], I think it’s the nickname that makes it special.

From your alternate list, I’ll vote for Matlida, but I think they’re all lovely.

Some more you may like:

[name]Annabelle[/name] (less popular than [name]Isabel[/name], and will still give you [name]Belle[/name])
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]/[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] (nn [name]Cleo[/name])
[name]Felicity[/name] (although Fliss is the only nickname that comes to mind)
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] ([name]Evie[/name])
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] ([name]Lulu[/name])
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name]

Best wishes to you!

I have heard of [name]Flossie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Felicity[/name], or Flicka, which I think is darling.

As mentioned before there are so many [name]Isabelle[/name]/a’s out there, it becoming a bit of a meganame trend. [name]Annabelle[/name] is mentioned as a top contender on NB and seems like it’s on a lot of shortlists. I also remember a couple of [name]Mirabelle[/name]'s recently being named.

I love [name]Isabel[/name], one of my favorites but since [name]Belle[/name] is so common now it doesn’t watch the woodsy vintage charm like your girls names and nn’s especially.

To me [name]Willamina[/name] is my favorite both as the first name and nickname, so togther it’s perfect. [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Willamina[/name] (love the Scottish spelling so much how about [name]Willamina[/name] [name]Elspeth[/name] which is the scottish form of [name]Elizabeth[/name] I believe. I also like how it gives you the other nn options such as [name]Winnie[/name] (fave!), [name]Minka[/name] and [name]Mina[/name] if she would like something different as a teenager.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Bess[/name] being second. I just love [name]Bess[/name] so much and think it’s ready to come back. But [name]Jill[/name] is right I like it most for it’s nickname.

[name]Matilda[/name]/[name]Tilly[/name] is sweet and lovely and goes perfectly with your sibset! I just put
the other two ahead as personal reference.
I love Katheribne and even though it’s a classic, I just feel it’s time to give some other names a turn, even though [name]Kitty[/name] is much much welcomed over another [name]Katie[/name], no offense just waaay overused.

Best of luck to you! Stellar list!

Kashed, I love your suggestion of [name]Mirabelle[/name]! I think it’s gorgeous…

Have you considered just [name]Belle[/name]? I know your other girls have longer names that have a nn I [name]LOVE[/name] it and think it stands fine on it’s own.

[name]Mirabelle[/name] is a very pretty suggestion!

I just love [name]Mirabelle[/name]!

Thanks!

Oh, sorry [name]Jill[/name], that was on your list to!

Oh, sorry [name]Jill[/name], that was on your list to![/quote]

Kashed, I didn’t realize that it was on my list until I read your comment! No need to apologize! It’s hard to keep track of suggestions.

[name]Lucy[/name], I’m glad you liked some of the names. If you love [name]Isabelle[/name], though, you should use it! I love [name]Annabelle[/name], too, and have loved it since I was a little girl. (As long as it doesn’t enter the top 20 or so, it will stay on my list!)

Like I said, I just love your girls’ names!

Oh, sorry [name]Jill[/name], that was on your list to![/quote]

Yes especially when you have such wonderful taste ;-))

Thanks, Kashed! So do you! (I love your list in your other post!)

[name]Isabel[/name]… It’s difficult for me to give an objective opinion. On its own (especially spelled [name]Isobel[/name]) I love it and think it’s one of the most beautiful names out there. But in the context of being one of the most popular names right now (although [name]Isabella[/name] is the really popular one, they are almost identical), I don’t know. I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Bella[/name], but again, so popular. A friend of mine had a little girl recently and called her [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name], having decided to just use the name they loved despite popularity, and I still feel torn between thinking it’s beautiful and knowing she’ll have a bunch of [name]Isabelle[/name] Roses in her class. In the end you have to do what’s right for you, and the thing with this one I suppose is that if you can reconcile yourself to its popularity, it has the same melody and loveliness of your other daughters’ names.

The rest of the shortlist:
[name]Matilda[/name]: nn [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Tilda[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]: nn [name]Kit[/name]/[name]Kitty[/name] - I love [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Kitty[/name], but I can see why it’s less exciting as there was a wave of Katherines in my generation
[name]Willamina[/name]: nn [name]Willa[/name] ([name]Love[/name] the nickname and [name]Willamina[/name] is growing on me) - I too love the nickname more than the name, but [name]Willamina[/name] as opposed to [name]Wilhelmina[/name] softens it a lot. I still prefer your other choices.
[name]Elizabeth[/name]: nn [name]Betsey[/name]/[name]Bess[/name] - as with [name]Katherine[/name]. But on the upside, a lot of her friends will have [name]Elizabeth[/name] as their middle name, and I don’t think many (if any) will have it as their first.

Good luck! They’re all beautiful names. Why not wait and see what fits her? You’ll know.

I love the name [name]Isabel[/name]. It’s so pretty and I think it goes great with [name]Margaret[/name] & [name]Penelope[/name]. I prefer the spelling [name]Isabel[/name], but if you spell it [name]Isabelle[/name], all 3 of your girls first names will have eight letters. It is popular, but if that’s what you love, I say go for it.

I also love [name]Matilda[/name] too. Whatever you choose, will be perfect because I so love the names [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Kerr[/name] & [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Skye[/name].

Good luck!

I fully agree [name]Belle[/name] is a lovely stand alone name but if you prefer a longer name then [name]Mirabelle[/name] is a lovely choice.

[name]Isabel[/name], [name]Annabelle[/name] or [name]Mirabelle[/name] are just perfect! I think the mn suggestions that have already been given of [name]Paige[/name], [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Jade[/name] are fantastic.

I love the name [name]Belle[/name] and I agree it could be a stand alone name, but I prefer the longer names so that they have another choice if they don’t like their nickname, but thanks for the suggestion.

I do like [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Jade[/name] or [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Iris[/name]. I’m going through family names at the moment because both of my girls have a family name - [name]Margaret[/name] & [name]Kerr[/name] and hoping I can find a middle name for her from there.

I think we have narrowed it down to [name]Isabel[/name], [name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabelle[/name], or [name]Matilda[/name]. Thanks for all of your help.

I adore [name]Isobel[/name] but this spelling  Also wanted to suggest [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Eleanora[/name] ([name]Nora[/name])
