I notices that some baby names are more popular in my entourage (extended family, friends and coworkers’ children) than they are in the area where I live. Most of these names are common here, but it’s just funny to realize that I know more kids with names ranked in the top 30, than ones with names in the top 5. Here are the names around me:
Out of my classmates, [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] (and [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f]!), [name_f]Nayeli[/name_f], and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] are more common for teenagers than popularity rankings would suggest (in my state).
For boys, [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], and [name_u]Sean[/name_u] are insanely common in my town. There are 10 Seans in my grade, +all the Jacks and Jacksons and Johns.
Isla and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]! Also [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] for the slightly less popular ones.
For boys, [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_m]Alfred[/name_m].
I volunteer with a daycare sometimes, and they have (out of 15 or so kids) two girls named Beatrice, and two girls named Daphne, neither of which would be considered particularly common where I’m from, which I find fascinating!
There are lots and lots of Evies & Addies. Mostly [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] & [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f], but some Everlys & Addisons.
There are lots & lots of Averys. And lots of Islas.
There are a whole bunch of Arias & Arianas. Kind of a lot of Amayas too.
I hear [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f] a good deal. And on two separate occasions recently, I’ve heard [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] on little pre-school aged girls.
Boys-
Basically every little boy is called [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
There are a bunch of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], [name_u]Miles[/name_u] & [name_u]Mason[/name_u].
There are a lot of [name_m]Will[/name_m] & [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].
And I oddly hear [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] on occasion, which isn’t supposed to be popular here.
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m], Theodore/Teddy, [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. I know six baby Oscars! [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] is another I hear a fair bit.
For girls, [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I’ve also been hearing [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] a lot of late.
Maddy (short for [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_u]Madison[/name_u])
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]/Emma (of course)
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]Casey[/name_u]
Max
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]John[/name_m]/Johnny
[name_u]Kyle[/name_u]
[name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
For girls definitely [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
For boys I can’t stress the amount of [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] / [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]’s that I know
So in my area for girls there are a lot of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]’s, [name_u]Willow[/name_u]’s, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]’s, [name_f]Evie[/name_f]’s and everyone loves a hyphenated first name as well I know a [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Carla[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-[name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Evie[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] & [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f] there’s tons of hyphenated names first names.
For boys [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is popular (my favourite boys name such a shame ), [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u], [name_u]Harry[/name_u], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u], [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_u]Paddy[/name_u] and again hyphenated names. I know a [name_u]Alfie[/name_u]-[name_u]Jay[/name_u], [name_m]Richie[/name_m]-[name_u]Ray[/name_u], [name_m]Alby[/name_m]-[name_u]Jay[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]-[name_u]Ray[/name_u].
