I’ve always loved this name and debated using it as my first daughters name but it’s just so darn popular! I’m thinking about adding it to my list despite the popularity. I was thinking we could call her [name]Liv[/name] to kind of seperate her from the crowd. Thoughts? What’s your opinion on [name]Olivia[/name] in general?
In general, I love [name]Olivia[/name]! Yes, the name might be popular (although I think a name’s popularity just depends on your area, really), but it’s popular for a reason. You can’t really go wrong with [name]Olivia[/name]-it’s a beautiful name, has wonderful literary references, and doesn’t have too many spelling variations.
[name]Olivia[/name] would be beautiful with [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name]!
I love [name]Olivia[/name]. It’s on my top 3. I could care less about popularity, I love [name]Olivia[/name] just as much now as I would if it was about the 400 mark, or even the 200 mark. I think it would seem fresher, but I would still use [name]Olivia[/name] tomorrow if it was my top pick. I love how it’s feminine but not overly frilly, I love the Shakespearean connection (Twelfth [name]Night[/name] is my favorite Shakespearean play ever), I love the allusions to peace and literature and romance, it’s just such a beautiful name, and I think it’s so popular because it appeals on such a universal level.
I think I’d be more comfortable with it if it was around the 100 mark, which is where [name]Isabelle[/name] is, but I would still use [name]Olivia[/name] in a heartbeat–I adore it. That being said, most Olivias I know (or have heard of in passing, which really isn’t that much), go by [name]Liv[/name]/[name]Livy[/name]. It’s one of the nns I’d use, though, I love it, too. I would also call her [name]Olive[/name], which is much less common.
I love it! I used to think it was just so-so, but it’s really grown on me. I like that it’s popular- I’d much rather [name]Olivia[/name] be #4 than [name]Kyleigh[/name] or [name]Nevaeh[/name]. And I don’t think popular is the worst thing a name can be- I’d encourage you to use it if you love it!
I adore the name as seen by my many uses [name]Olive[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], i just love any variety of the name. It’s beautiful and simple, there’s just nothing like it. My older sister is named [name]Olivia[/name] and we call her [name]Liv[/name], [name]Livie[/name], [name]Via[/name], [name]Livia[/name], Livs, and [name]Olive[/name]-[name]Branch[/name] :3
I love [name]Olivia[/name], it’s on my own list, unfortunately, [name]Liv[/name] doesn’t separate her from the crowd. I know many Olivias nn [name]Liv[/name].
Popularity aside, I think it’s gorgeous and I would use it myself. There’s the [name]Shakespeare[/name] connection, it has the great ‘O’ beginning, it’s sweet yet strong at the same time. If this was my number one name, I would have no problems using it. I don’t think popularity should stop anyone.
Oh I’m so glad you posted this! My DH loves [name]Olivia[/name] and I’ve always kind of dismissed it for popularity…but last couple months it’s been really growing on me!
[name]Olivia[/name] is beautiful, strong, another perk for us us that it works nicely in many languages.
I’ve also considered that not many names sound like [name]Olivia[/name]. When you add up all the [name]Isabella[/name]'s/[name]Bella[/name]'s/[name]Isabelle[/name]'s and all the [name]Sophie[/name]'s/[name]Sofia[/name]'s/[name]Sophia[/name]'s, [name]Olivia[/name] doesn’t feel as popular from my experience.
I am named [name]Olivia[/name], so I’m partial…I get SOOO many compliments on my name (being in my mid-late 20’s, there aren’t too many [name]Olivia[/name]'s that are my age since it got popular only in the past 5 years or so). My husband calls me [name]Liv[/name], along with a few close friends, I like having [name]Liv[/name] as a nickname. I also go by [name]Olive[/name] to a few people. I think if you like it, go for it!
[name]Love[/name], love [name]Olivia[/name]! Classic, elegant and beautiful! I have loved it for years, and seriously considered it numerous times… I can’t lie, the popularity has detered me. I just never wanted my child to be one of many. Having said that, I think over the past several months, I have begun to realize that honestly it doesn’t really matter! You should use the name that you [name]LOVE[/name]
I really love [name]Olivia[/name]. My DH doesn’t at all, although he said I could use it in the middle. I love [name]Meredith[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Joy[/name] but [name]Meredith[/name] isn’t at the top of my list right now.
I’m bored of hearing is to be honest! I’ve had an [name]Olivia[/name] in every class I’ve taught for the past 4 years so children now aged betweem 3-7 years of age. It’s so popular here in the UK. Outisde of my work I know four other [name]Olivia[/name]'s and it is kinda irritating me.
It’s a nice name and I can see why it’s popular but I wish I didn’t have to hear it all the time.
I’ve always liked [name]Olivia[/name]! It brings to mind for me [name]Olivia[/name] Hussey ([name]Juliet[/name] from the Zeffirelli film in the 60s), which is what made me fall in love with [name]Shakespeare[/name] when I was ten years old. I have always thought she was so beautiful and I wanted to be her (up until the whole tragic ending and all)! Also, I think of the sweet little [name]Olivia[/name] from The Cosby Show. She was such a cutie–one of those times a television show introduced a new kid and it worked.
I also love the name paired with [name]Paige[/name]. I’m not sure why, but since high school, I’ve thought [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Paige[/name] was a great combination. It’s not on my favorites list atm, but who knows? I may end up using it one day after all.
