I love the name [name]Calista[/name] nn [name]Callie[/name] but I’m worried the nickname [name]Callie[/name] is too popular. With all the spellings combined it’s just inside the top 100, and that’s not including all the girls named [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Calypso[/name], [name]Calliope[/name], [name]California[/name], Caladonia, etc. that go by [name]Callie[/name]. Plus I’m afraid the popularity of sound-alike names like [name]Kaylee[/name] and [name]Kylie[/name] make it stand out less. What do you guys think? Am I thinking too hard? I would want to call her [name]Calista[/name] most of the time but you can’t control nicknames so she might become a full-time [name]Callie[/name] whether I like it or not.
It wouldn’t bother me. I think Carolines tend to go by other nn’s more and those other names are really rare. I know there are a fair number of Kylies and Kaylees et al and that is a little close but it’s still not the same (I’d actually wonder more about [name]Hallie[/name]'s and [name]Hayley[/name]'s and the like if you’re wondering). I think those names are trending down a bit. I’ve never known a little [name]Callie[/name] - I did overhear someone talking about one on the bus, once : D.
What about [name]Calla[/name] as a nickname?
Oh, I love [name]Calista[/name]! I wouldn’t worry about the popularity of [name]Callie[/name], either. I’ve only known one many years ago. I second the suggestion of [name]Calla[/name] as a nickname. It’s one of my favorite names on its own, so elegant and distinctive, but familiar and easy to wear.
You’re way overthinking this. If you love [name]Calista[/name], use it regardless of how popular a potential nickname of [name]Callie[/name] is.
I only know one [name]Callie[/name] in her 20s… I think her name is [name]Caroline[/name] but not sure. [name]Love[/name] the nn and agree it is not very popular in real world… I do know
LOTS of Kaylees… I don’t think it would blend with those, though
Agreeing with the others that I wouldn’t worry about the popularity of a nickname, especially if you’re planning on calling her [name]Calista[/name] most of the time. Yeah, she might end up a full-time [name]Callie[/name], but if she does, I would assume that she doesn’t mind if it’s popular, so I wouldn’t let it bother you either. She’ll always have the option of using the less common [name]Calista[/name] if she happens to meet another [name]Callie[/name].
I’ve never met a single [name]Callie[/name] And I agree with previous posters, I think [name]Calista[/name] with the occasional nickname [name]Callie[/name] is great, so if she wants to stand out she can and if she wants to blend in with the more popular (but still not overly popular) nickname, she still can.
