I have 6 kids and am expecting number 7. My two oldest kids have names that are now in the top 200. The next 3 have names outside the top 1000. Then there is an 8 year gap and the next one has a name that wasn’t even given to 5 babies last year.
This next baby I’m considering a name that’s around 500. Is that too common compared to the others, especially my youngest? [name_m]How[/name_m] common is a name that’s right around the 500 mark anyway? We’ve always tried to pick more uncommon names and I’m afraid this one is poised to rise much higher. If you were my super uncommonly named baby, how would you feel with a sibling of the same sex with a much more common name? What do you think?
I feel like 500 isn’t bad, I would worry more about top 100 names.
As someone with a very unique name (only about five people with my name) and two sisters with pretty common names (probably in the top 200 or 100) I can say its only slightly annoying, and I would feel that way about my name regardless (the annoying thing is never finding my name on those “personalized” key chains and stuff, while my sisters always find theirs. very minor annoyance.). Over all, I don’t think it matters very much.
My daughter’s first name, [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], was in the 500s for the year she was born (2014). Since having her, I have never met another little girl named [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]. I know a couple girls named [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], but that name is much higher on the list. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, I doubt it would cause much of a problem between your kids.
