Although we’re not naming real babies right now, my husband has found his “the one” boy name: [name_u]Ezra[/name_u].
The issue (?) is… our last name starts with an E! In concept I have no issues with an alliterative name, but the most recent baby in the family has one and it’s not pretty. (That is, the names are fine alone, but FN and LN said together sound jarring to me.) It makes me worried that if/when we ever have a son we’ll accidentally do the same thing.
So does [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] work with a LN that sounds like [name_u]Everett[/name_u]/Everest/Ever? [name_u]Or[/name_u] do the “Ez” and “Ev” sounds clash?
Thanks!
I actually think vowels make really cool alliteration! I think [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] “[name_u]Everett[/name_u]” sounds fine to me
Thank you! I thought they sounded good, but I’m also sure that my relatives picked a name they love, and I feel weird for not liking it. It makes me question my ear on these kinds of names now!
I think they sound pretty good together! I would recommend saying it aloud a few more times to see if it trips you up!
I think it sound great . E is such a soft letter that the Ez and Ev sounds good together!
I think it sounds fine [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] is lovely
I think it would sound fine
Thank you so much everyone! I’ve been hesitant to love “E” names, but I really like [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] and I’m just so pleased DH (unprompted!) found something he loves. Maybe someday we’ll even use it!
I love alliteration in the right combo, and this sounds like one of those cases to me. [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] “[name_u]Everett[/name_u]” sounds punchy and memorable and not at all clunky or awkward. If [name_u]Ezra[/name_u]’s the favourite, I say go for it!
