I love your list, but I’ll start with “what should go” in my opinion–the ones I care for least and the reasons why:
[name]Alice[/name]: Compared to the eye-catching options on your list, I feel like this one just fails to draw attention to itself. I envision a girl named [name]Alice[/name] just blending into the wall. The name is unremarkable, meaning that there is really nothing noteworthy about it either positively or negatively.
[name]Philippa[/name]/[name]Pippa[/name]: Cute in theory, but it was in the news so much around the time of [name]Prince[/name] [name]William[/name]'s wedding as the name of [name]Kate[/name]'s sister that it would feel like it was stolen off a celebrity. There is nothing wrong with using a celebrity’s name, but to me it feels unoriginal, like the parents weren’t creative enough to come up with a cool idea on their own (which, evidenced by the rest of your list, is not the case for you guys, so I think you should use one of your other cool ideas).
[name]Adelaide[/name]: I feel like she would get lost in the sea of Addisons, Addies, and Maddies.
Those are the names on your list that I dislike, but here are my favorites:
[name]Julia[/name]: I know this has remained steadily popular, but it has a very '80s and '90s feel to me, which I adore. It has a sense of nostalgia for me, and reminds me of the awesome decades of my childhood. Beanie Babies, Nickelodeon, Cabbage Patch Dolls…[name]Julia[/name] feels like a throwback to a good time.
[name]Roberta[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name] this! It’s one of those names that I would never consider myself but would love to see on someone else’s child. It feels unique and fresh, and would look SO sweet on a child. If you called her [name]Bobbi[/name] for short, I would love it a million times more!
[name]Daisy[/name]: Sounds bright, sunny, and happy.
[name]Virginia[/name]: Makes me think of Christmastime (because of the story behind “Yes, [name]Virginia[/name], there is a [name]Santa[/name] [name]Claus[/name]”). Also, I honeymooned in [name]Virginia[/name] so there is a special place in my heart for the word. (A friend of mine calls the state of [name]Virginia[/name] “the Promised [name]Land[/name],” and it really does have perfect weather and is beautiful all around.) I have nothing but wonderful associations with the name [name]Virginia[/name]. It is on my list as well, with the nickname [name]Ginny[/name].
