Possible silly question...

My first baby, a little boy, is due on [name]Wednesday[/name] and I was hoping to get some feedback on his name.

His first and middle names have been set in stone since I found out I was pregnant; I’ve chosen [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name]. [name]Lyndon[/name] is for my late uncle who died when I was 11 and who I adored and [name]Zachary[/name] is just a name that popped into my head and magically clicked! The thing is, I really want to give him two middle names but does having two take away from the fact that I’ve honoured my uncle? Plus I feel that [name]Lyndon[/name] is such a strong name that maybe some will feel it should be allowed to stand alone. However, I really do adore the name [name]James[/name] and it feels like it should be part of [name]Zach[/name]'s name. I know it’s probably a really stupid question but it’s been on my mind and I’m such a frequent lurker at these boards that I thought I’d ask you lovely people for some feedback! Surname starts with S and sounds like Salts.

So is [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] “Salts” better than [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]James[/name] “Salts”? Thank you!!

[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds cute.

I prefer [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name].

I generally prefer only 1 middle name.

I think they both sound just fine. It’s nice that you’re honoring your late uncle as well, and even though I don’t know you or him personally, I’m sure he would be honored. I say, as cheesy as it may sound, go with your heart on this. Which do you prefer?

I don’t think [name]James[/name] flows that well with Salts, so I’d do [name]Zachary[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] Salts or just [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] Salts. But it sounds like you really want to put [name]James[/name] in there, so go for it!

I think [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] Salts sounds the best.

I think [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] Salts sounds the best, [name]Lyndon[/name] is so strong and distinctive I see no reason why you’d need another middle name. Plus if you plan on having another child you could use [name]James[/name] as their middle name

Flow wise, I prefer the 1 middle. Save [name]James[/name] for if you have another, you might regret using it as [name]Zachary[/name]'s middle if you have another boy…

On a boy, I prefer one middle. It feels stronger, more simple & masculine…less fancy. Since it seems like it’s just a name you like, not one that is especially meaningful to you, I think it’s best to save [name]James[/name] for any second boy you might have, or just figure you can’t use all the wonderful names out there.

I prefer one middle name.

I like [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name]. It’s a handsome choice. Adding [name]James[/name] feels unnecessary, especially since there’s no real reason for it.

I’m leaning towards the side of just one middle, but if you do decide on two I think that [name]Zachary[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] flows better than [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]James[/name].

If there isn’t a reason for [name]James[/name], I’d stick with just [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name]. Save [name]James[/name], just in case.

I am a fan of two middle names so I’m a minority on this thread. [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] “Salts” is definitely a great name but I don’t think [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]James[/name] “Salts” honors your uncle any less. [name]Ann[/name] is my middle name, my mother’s middle name and her mother’s middle name. I used to torture myself on whether I should give my future daughter one or two middle names because I desperately want to continue the “[name]Ann[/name]” tradition to honor my matriarchs but I would honestly prefer two middle names if I had some say in what my parents named me. I have finally decided to use two middle names because I feel I am still honoring the tradition and being true to what I hold deep in my heart. Honestly, I prefer the flow of [name]Zachary[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] “Salts” better than [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]James[/name] “Salts” because it is 3-1-2-1 pattern rather than a 3-2-1-1 pattern, but don’t let that influence you too much. Many of my favorite name combos end up being 2-2-1-3, 2-2-3-3 or even 3-3-1-3. Go with the name you love the most. Congratulations and best of luck!

Thank you so much for all your answers!! I really appreciate it. I have some time to mull it over when he’s finally here but after reading this I’m leaning towards just the one middle name. Thank you again!!

[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] “Salts” works better than [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] [name]James[/name] “Salts” because the back to back S sound is rather tricky to say. If you want to get [name]James[/name] in there I’d recommend reordering it to [name]Zachary[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Lyndon[/name] “Salts.” Having two middles takes nothing from honouring with one of them.
