We found out a few weeks ago that we’re expecting a baby girl in [name_u]August[/name_u]. I posted awhile back our narrowed down list for girl’s names, but after a few weeks of trying out names, I’m realizing that this might be more difficult than I thought.
Today was the first day we saw her knowing she was a girl (we had a reveal and didn’t know during our last ultrasound), so now I feel like I’m so much more in love with her and it’s making it more difficult to choose the perfect name that will fit her just right.
So, I’m not necessarily going 100% back to the drawing board, but I am opening my mind a bit. Trying out names that I like, but never made it to the love list. And reaching out to all of you on your thoughts! [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to share your favorites from this larger list I’ve created OR share new names with us.
We love vintage names that are a bit spunky and quirky. Our last name is Cranmer, pronounced just as it looks - Cran-Murr.
I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] the most for you. Also loving [name_f]Helena[/name_f] (but I prefer different pronunciation), [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (Maybe [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], Phelie - Feli? or [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]?)
I think these are all good with your surname. I like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but not with your surname. I don’t mind [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], just not loving them as much as the others.
Nicknames for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]: Phelie, [name_u]Philly[/name_u], [name_f]Fifi[/name_f], [name_u]Fee[/name_u], [name_f]Ola[/name_f], [name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], and at a stretch I would use [name_f]Polly[/name_f].
I like many of your choices but if they aren’t sitting right you haven’t found it yet. I was very set on a shortlist of 4 names for a long time only to discover that none of them felt right for this baby. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trust your instincts as best you can.
Congratulations on your little girl! You have a gorgeous list of names here.
My favourites are [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], though I adore many of the others too. [name_f]Polly[/name_f] for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is a great suggestion!
My favorites are [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] w/ nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Your last name has a Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] feel to me, so [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] don’t go as well. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] personally, and I don’t like the [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m] association for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], though it’s a pretty name.
You have probably considered these, but…
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Izzy[/name_u])
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] (pronounced Heh-leen-uh, I wonder though if you would have to correct people all the time, perhaps that wouldn’t bother you, I automatically pronounce this Hel-en-a)
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Lia[/name_f], Fi)
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
And since we seem to have similar taste, here are some others from my list you may want to consider.

[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
