My df and I are ttc. We live far away from all of our family and friends, so I am thinking about starting a pregnancy blog so we can keep everyone up to date without having to make a hundred phone calls lol
Has anyone done this? What has been your experience?
Can you recommend a website to use - preferably one that allows you to make the blog private, so that only people you want can read it?

You can do youtube vlogging. There’s an option to only let people see the video if they have a direct link.
If you want to do an actual blog, try blogger.com. You can make it so only certain people can read it. All they (and you) need is a GMail account!

I have a blog but I run it publicy so I’m not 100% sure about how to make a blog private, but the main ones people use are Blogger or Wordpress.
I use Blogger personally and I love it - its really simple to use!
Personally pregnancy blogging has been a great experience for me - I ran a blog beforehand anyway and just changed it to a preg blog once we conceived, but its a great place to vent, record memories, get advice, and I also do product reviews so have had some amazing freebies out of it too! i can’t recommend it highly enough.
I’m not pregnant but I do a lot of blogging. I also refuse to share pictures on Facebook, so what I use is Shutterfly: http://www.shutterfly.com/
They let you create your own “[name]Share[/name]” site where only members of the site can see what you post (journal entries, pictures, videos, etc…) The only downside is that your family and friends have to create a Shutterfly account in order to be a member (it’s totally free, but sometimes for weird reasons people don’t want to sign up). You can either A) invite members (family and friends) to your site by sending out emails or they can go to the site and request membership. This way if you have someone you don’t want to be a member, you can decline their request. Members can’t see the site till they are a member of the site. Totally private! They also have a pre-made baby site layout, so if you want something super easy and simple, I would recommend that.
Another site I love is Tumblr: http://www.tumblr.com/
They have an option where you can password protect your blog so only the people you give your password to can access it. The only downside to this is making sure the people you tell don’t share your password with people you don’t want to know.
I had never thought of a blog to share with family during pregnancy. What a great idea. I’m not pregnant, but I see so much oversharing on facebook, it would be nice to have a separate site where just interested parties could go.
