I have always been really interested in names, but now as me and my husband are expecting our first child (a delivery suprice) I have no inspiration for names.
The middle names (if it is a boy) will be [name]Bertil[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] and if it is a girl [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Julianna[/name] or [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]. Any good names that fits with these middle names?
I have a BBFFL (Best Best [name]Friend[/name] For Life) named [name]Cecilia[/name]!
What origin or meaning or popularity do you have in mind? Maybe something NOT SO POPULAR, from maybe Poland or [name]Africa[/name] or [name]England[/name]?
Girl:
[name]Cassia[/name] (means “cinnamon”) [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Bryce[/name] (means “bright strength; speckled, freckled”) [name]Julianna[/name] - this is close to [name]Bertil[/name], because both mean “bright strength”
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Hallie[/name] (means “the meadow by the manor”) [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Kylie[/name] [name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] (or [name]Katie[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Kat[/name], [name]Kit[/name]) [name]Julianna[/name]
Wow, thanks everyone for your beautiful suggestions. I have always pictured my child having three first names but perhaps I could go for the “combos” I already have. Nice input!
I love [name]Grace[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Bryce[/name] and [name]Darcy[/name] as names for a girl, but my husband has said no. We live in Europe and he thinks they are too “anglo-oriented”.
[name]Milo[/name] is actually on my list, I love it, but again my husband says no… Apparently he has a say in it. We both like [name]Jacob[/name], but it is so popular now… I’m just lost in the name-jungle.
But thanks again. You have certainly given me inspiration!
I love [name]Jessa[/name], [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Poppy[/name], but in my native language (Swedish) these dosn’t work. I think [name]Charlotte[/name] is lovely but my cusin just named her daughter that name so I can’t too…
[name]Maximilian[/name] is actually my husbands favourite, but I think it is too grand and too emperor-like. [name]Julian[/name] is really nice, and is actually a name that we have been thinking about since [name]Julia[/name] is a family name is our family. My fathers great-grandma and my baby sister is called [name]Julia[/name]. So [name]Julian[/name] would be nice, what would a nn for [name]Julian[/name] be?
I also love [name]Hermione[/name] and [name]Cassiopeia[/name] but they don’t really work with a Swedish pronunciation. But thanks for your suggestions!
Right now my favourite boy names are
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Edward[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Erik[/name]
girl
[name]Ester[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Lea[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] (what would be the nn?)
I agree that [name]Maximilian[/name] is too grand and emporer-like. I love the name [name]Julian[/name], and a nice nickname could be [name]Jude[/name]-- I think it’s really handsome.
[name]Noah[/name]: I think it’s a nice name, just not my style.
[name]Edward[/name]: It’s very handsome, but I worry about the associations to Twilight.
[name]Julian[/name]: I really like it!
[name]Erik[/name]: To me, it seems very dated.
[name]Ester[/name]: I’ve never really been a fan of this name.
[name]Esme[/name]: Very pretty, but again, tied to Twilight.
[name]Lea[/name]: It’s lovely-- would you be pronouncing it the French way, lay-a, or like [name]Leah[/name] or [name]Lia[/name]?
[name]Iris[/name]: I love it! It doesn’t really need a nickname, since it’s only two syllables.
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Bertil[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. Although [name]Bertil[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Bertil[/name] on its own is nice.
[name]Maxfield[/name] or [name]Maxwell[/name] is too “anglo-oriented”, my native language is Swedish and these names dosn’t really work in Swedish. [name]Nor[/name] does [name]Jude[/name] which in Swedish literally means “one who is Jewish”. Any other nn for [name]Julian[/name]?
My husband really likes [name]Julian[/name], so perhaps we have a winner. We’ll see. I’m still really into [name]Noah[/name]. I thinks it is the perfect name.
[name]Lea[/name] would be pronounced lee-a. Very simple. I think it is adorable. I’m glad you like it!
[name]Tristan[/name] is actually a really good suggestion. I like it! Very poetic, beautiful and works in Swedish too. I will check with my husband.
[name]Oliver[/name] is really nice, but my cousin’s dog is named [name]Oliver[/name]… so that won’t work…
Thanks again! /N
[name]Noah[/name] - very handsome.
[name]Edward[/name] - classic.
[name]Erik[/name] - too blunt for my personal taste.
[name]Tristan[/name] - handsome and unusual, with a brilliant story.
[name]Julian[/name] - wonderful. Very handsome. One nn is [name]Jules[/name], which is nowadays used for [name]Julia[/name], too, but I think still works on a boy.
[name]Ester[/name] - I love this name!
[name]Esme[/name] - and this one
[name]Lea[/name] - very pretty.
[name]Iris[/name] - it has always struck me as strange that this is a part of the eye, but it is a pretty name which I don’t think needs a nn.
Still pregnant, now in week 17 and not a name idea in sight! I have begun to think that perhaps this child wants to name itself. My brain has gone completely name-oblivious.
My favourite is still [name]Noah[/name] for a boy, and my husband suggested [name]Jasmin[/name] for a girl.
