(Kinda named after two of my fav guys, River Phoenix and Leo DiCaprio)
Everyone likes it except my dad
He absolutely loathes the name Leo. Like had a vile reaction to it. He thinks it’s such a stupid name. I asked him if he knew a Leo or something, and nope!
His feedback has been getting in my head…is Leo a bad name?? Is it too trendy?
I really don’t want my son to have an overly trendy name. I think River is strong, unique, but familiar…not top 50 trendy?
Leo perhaps is a bit trendy nowadays. How will the name fare in 10-20 years?
[name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are a bit trendy but they may stick around for a long time. The reason I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is trendy is because it’s a short form of [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]. [name_u]River[/name_u] is definitely a trendy nature name. I don’t think either of these names are bad or will necessarily be dated in 10-20 years. It just depends on how long they stay popular.
I love Leo! it’s adorable. And River is lovely on a boy, especially with nn Riv <3
i don’t consider either name too trendy. Leo is more popular than River, and Leo is in the middle so that’s not an issue.
I think both names will be completely fine in 10-20 years. I don’t imagine there being too many of either name (definitely not in the Sarah/Emily/Abigail way).
if you love the name, use it!! River Leo is so lovely <3
I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m]! The thing about names is we often love the names the people we love have, and your dad will learn to love [name_m]Leo[/name_m]!
it’s totally fine - few people would bat an eye at either name. i find the objection to leo strange since it seems much less “out-there” than river! i think the combo is a little trendy, but sometimes names are trendy for a reason. it’s a really sweet pairing!
This!
I think River Leo is a gorgeous name. We got a few negative reactions to our daughter’s name (Robyn) on account of it being too “dated” or “birdy” or not something that’s currently considered trendy/pretty. MIL hates it. But honestly, once bub is born and named people tend to deal with it and move on. As long as there’s no huge concern about a name being ridiculous or vulgar then I reckon you just need to take other’s opinions with a grain of salt.
I think [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is a gorgeous combo! Modern, earthy and sweet. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] does feel fresh but it has long usage and is a lovely name
It’s a great name! It’s both strong and fun. It’s trendy because the L+vowel names are trending now, but [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is a well established, familiar name outside of that trend.
There’s always going to be someone who doesn’t like the name, but it’s your chance to name someone! Enjoy it!
I absolutely adore the name! River and Leo are my top 2 boys names and they sound so sweet together. Your dad had chance to name his kids and so now it is your turn, I say go with it!
Firstly, I absolutely love this combo. I would say that [name_u]River[/name_u] is more “trendy” than [name_m]Leo[/name_m] personally, its definitely one of those names that’s cropping up more and more at the moment, I know at least 3 in my close friend and family circle. Whereas [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is more classic although usually a nn for [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] etc but I also prefer it as a stand alone name. Really interested to know what your Dad’s feedback on the name was…
What a strange reaction. Who cares about middle names other than the parents and the kid? It’s not like he will ever have to call him [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] keep it to yourself, geez. Also I could see him reacting against [name_u]River[/name_u] because it’s a bit more “out there” but [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is so normal and classic.
