Hello, I am an aspiring Doula and as part of my training I must attend several child birth education classes. The instructor has allowed me to attend for free on the condition that I bring in snacks for the couples during break. I’ve been scouring the Internet looking for some fun and healthy snack ideas for pregnant women that their partners will also love, but have had very little luck. So I am turning to nameberry to get advice from real mom’s and anyone else who had a good idea of what pregnant women like to eat, and what is safe and healthy as well. What were/are some of your favorite bump friendly snack treats? [name]Do[/name] you know of any good websites that might help me out? Thanks!
Protein is really important during pregnancy. I follow the “[name]Brewer[/name]'s Diet” while pregnant. I don’t know if you will have access to keep snacks cold or maybe a toaster? lol – probably not, but here are some ideas:
whole grain toast (bread) with peanutbutter, almond butter, nutella
sliced avocado
hard boiled eggs
nuts - almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts are best bets
yogurt
cottage cheese
cheese sticks/cheese cubes w/ whole grain crackers
little finger sandwiches made with turkey or chicken salad?
fruit/veggie trays
spinach salad
whole grain muffins
My only thought at the moment is green grapes (what I’m eating now
The tartness is good for morning sickness and they are also very helpful for constipation. Plus, they have lots of fluids in them.
I ate lots of nuts and dried fruit. Also plain yoghurt with granola and fruit, and peanut butter sandwiches. I’m sure there was more but I don’t remember. Good luck!
