Preterm Labour & still unsure if we have the RIGHT name.

Okay folks, I know you’re probably bored to death of my threads & I’m sorry I’m so indecisive. I just can’t shake the feeling that the perfect name is still hanging somewhere, waiting to be plucked.

I started having contractions last night & was admitted for preterm labour & this morning was sent home since I hadn’t dilated over night… So it’s possible this baby will be born very soon. If she were to be born today we would name her [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. My husband and I both like the feel of it, but I don’t have that glowy feeling that I had with our first daughter’s name.

We’re drawn to the unusual, and prefer strong & quirky names to overly feminine ones.

Some we like but most likely won’t be using for various reasons: [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_f]Ursula[/name_f], [name_f]Esparanza[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f], Marzanna, [name_f]Coral[/name_f].

Please contribute some names for us, I would REALLY appreciate it.

Azula and [name_f]Indira[/name_f] are lovely together - [name_f]Caia[/name_f] (K-EYE-uh) sprung to mind as well. Good luck!

I don’t think there’s any new name I pull out of a hat right now that you haven’t seen or others haven’t contributed - I just wanted to say that I truly [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and I don’t think you can go wrong with it.

However, I know what you mean as I felt that glowy feeling about #1’s name and never have about #2’s - and it does bother me to this day.

Is it [name_f]Indira[/name_f] or [name_u]Sage[/name_u] that’s throwing you? Or both? I’ll send you one list for starters, all quirky exotic first names. If you’re looking for middles too, let me know…I have a whole list of nature/word middles!

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
Satya - truth
[name_f]Midori[/name_f]
[name_f]Naima[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Shasta[/name_f] - [name_m]New[/name_m] Age healing and Narnian princes…love it!
[name_f]Tamar[/name_f]
[name_f]Niobe[/name_f] (I know her myth is tragic, but the Matrix character is the perfect combo of beauty, brains, and badassery)
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] (I know she’s more popular now because of the movie, but I love the sounds of Azula and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] together)
Inara
[name_m]Denali[/name_m]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f] or Lilit
[name_f]Zafira[/name_f] - to succeed…also related to [name_f]Safira[/name_f], meaning [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f]. The blue could be a cool connection to Azula!
[name_f]Sorcha[/name_f] - bright, shining…protagonist in [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] Marillier’s retelling of the [name_u]Seven[/name_u] Swans fairytale, and one of my favorite characters of all time.
[name_f]Nuala[/name_f] - related to [name_f]Fionnuala[/name_f], but I love it for the [name_f]Nuala[/name_f]/Nuada faery twins…I’m a sappy fangirl like that.
[name_f]Circe[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Salome[/name_f]
Cimorene - super plucky runaway princess from Enchanted [name_m]Forest[/name_m] Chronicles
[name_f]Eithne[/name_f] (or phonetic spelling [name_f]Enya[/name_f])
Sabriel
Neroli
[name_f]Soraya[/name_f] - NB’s listed meaning is not quite correct on this one. There was a famous princess named [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] responsible for the “princess” meaning, but the name itself means “jewel” or “brightest of lights” and is an Arabic name for the Pleiades.

[name_f]Indira[/name_f] is so lovely, maybe it is the combo?

[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Marisol[/name_f]
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] Christobal
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_u]Ray[/name_u]
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_u]Silver[/name_u]
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Coral[/name_f]

Or for the time of year…
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Holly[/name_f], Mistle, [name_f]Carol[/name_f], [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Santa[/name_f]

I like both names its just not ringing like I keep hoping it will.

We would love to keep something recognizable for the middle, something with an earthy natural herbal vibe. And preferably something that our daughter could easily go by if she decides she doesn’t want to go by her first name. I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] fits the bill. Some of my other favourites for middles are [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] & [name_f]Coral[/name_f] (and [name_f]Honey[/name_f] & [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] though my husband hates those two). I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or [name_f]Coral[/name_f] would be the most “usable” for the real world if she decides to go by her middle name.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep them coming if you can think of more.

I especially like some of the suggestions - [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] (I actually had a dream that we used this one), [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], Eisa, all the [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]/[name_u]Gwyn[/name_u] suggestions ([name_u]Corey[/name_u]'s grandmother’s name is [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] & he loves family names), [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f], Inara (though DH has basically Veto’d that), & [name_f]Zafira[/name_f]. I’ll run them by him & hopefully add some of these to the list to take to the hospital.

My husband would definitely go for [name_f]Niobe[/name_f]! Total Matrix nerd. I don’t think I prefer it over [name_f]Indira[/name_f] though. Also, Sessha I adore [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] Marillier, just not the name [name_f]Sorcha[/name_f]. The Sevenwaters series is one of my go-to’s (I especially love [name_m]Son[/name_m] of the Shadows). And Nice suggestion of Sabriel! [name_f]Love[/name_f] me some [name_m]Garth[/name_m] [name_f]Nix[/name_f]!

Thunderbolt - isn’t that a horrible feeling? I’m so glad I didn’t feel that way with my first - and I’m really hoping the sky opens up for us and the perfect name comes down on a sunbeam… but starting to feel like that is not going to happen this time.

I don’t have any children of my own, but I’ve heard plenty of stories where the parents didn’t have a name (totally) picked out and as soon as they saw the baby’s darling face, they knew instinctively… maybe, as with the birthdate, this child is telling you she wants to be adventuresome, spontaneous and unplanned!!

I know this doesn’t help your nerves, but honestly, too much worry never helped anyone ever!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about something along the lines of [name_f]Coral[/name_f], but matches [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] a bit better? —> [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]

or [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Merrily[/name_f] (tho that might be a bit much)?
or even [name_f]Indira[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]?

Oh my gosh, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] would be gorgeous!

Swoon! Ditto above, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is breathtaking. I also love [name_f]Indira[/name_f], but I think perhaps [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is meant to be! She came to you in a dream, and now she’s coming into the world early! Beautiful. <3
