I really like all these except [name]Heidi[/name]. That one doesn’t stand out to me. I voted for my 3 favs, [name]Sabine[/name], [name]Bianca[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name]. [name]Sabine[/name] esp prnd [name]Sabina[/name], I just absolutely love. [name]Liesel[/name] and [name]Marika[/name] are nice too, but I felt I should limit my votes somewhat. [name]Bianca[/name] sounds so sophisticated and special to me. And I know a sweet [name]Linnea[/name] who is an older lady. Also makes me think of the childrens book, [name]Linnea[/name] in Monets Garden.

I’ve loved [name]Liesel[/name] since I saw “The Sound of [name]Music[/name]” as a kid.

I love [name]Heidi[/name] and [name]Bianca[/name].

[name]Marika[/name] sounds like a mispronunciation of [name]America[/name].

I think if you want the pronunciation [name]Sabina[/name] that’s how you should spell it. The [name]Sabine[/name] were historically remembered as a group of women who were abducted and raped…

[name]Liesel[/name] is a beautiful name but it sounds exceptionally [name]German[/name] to me, since it’s so rare in the US. It’s similar to me to being Chinese and naming your child [name]Thor[/name], unless of course you’re [name]German[/name].

[name]Linnea[/name] is pretty and unusual. I’ve never heard it before as a girls first name, reminds me of the botanist guy who latinized his name (Linnaeus).

Oh me too!! I just loved that film and those delightful children and the heartwrenching song ‘Edelweiss’.

[name]BIANCA[/name]! It’s my daughter’s name. I still love it.

[name]Sabina[/name] is one of our top 4 contenders for our baby girl- it’s a family name for us!

I’ve always had a soft spot for [name]Bianca[/name].

I knew soemone who names their daughters [name]Bianca[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. It was a lovely subtle sibset of colour names

I voted [name]Sabine[/name], love it. Also [name]Linnea[/name]. I would have voted [name]Bianca[/name] as well, but a character in a programme in the UK has ruined it for me.

The [name]Sabine[/name] women were not raped, they were abducted, it was a mistranslation from the [name]Roman[/name]. They also managed to negotiate with their captors and save their men and allow the two tribes to live in peace, so it’s not necessarily a negative connection. I picked [name]Bianca[/name] and [name]Liesel[/name].
I love [name]Bianca[/name] but in terms of use it has been thoroughly ruined by a character in an unfathomably popular British soap.

[name]Linnea[/name] is my favorite!

The poll gave me a surprise result with [name]Bianca[/name] coming up trumps and [name]Marika[/name] losing badly.

The pronunciation for [name]Marika[/name] is [name]Mar[/name] reek ah, is that how people are saying it? I ask that because someone said it sounded like [name]America[/name] which did surprise me.

More feedback would be interesting.

I voted for [name]Marika[/name] (Ma-[name]REE[/name]-ka) and [name]Liesel[/name]. I like the idea of the name [name]Sabina[/name], but I agree that “[name]Sabine[/name]” has a negative association, at least for me. [name]Even[/name] if the women weren’t raped per se, all most people (including me) remember is the title “The Rape of the [name]Sabine[/name] Women.”

I went to school with sisters named [name]Bianca[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] and have always loved both names. I love [name]Blanca[/name] too. My cousin [name]Rob[/name] married an Austrian girl named [name]Sabine[/name] and they have a son, [name]Maximilian[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]…And I have always loved the Scandinavian name [name]Linnea[/name]. I really don’t like [name]Heidi[/name] at all; went to school with [name]WAY[/name] too many Heidis. I prefer [name]Adele[/name]/[name]Adela[/name]. [name]Marika[/name] – there are lovelier versions of [name]Mary[/name] and its attributes than this. And I’ve always preferred [name]Elisabeth[/name] to [name]Liesel[/name].

Rawr! On my phone and clicked “enter” before I meant to =(

My favorites are [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Sabine[/name] (though I agree with a pp and prefer the [name]Sabina[/name] spelling). I also have a soft spot for [name]Liesel[/name] (though I prefer the original) because of [name]Liesl[/name] from “The Sound of [name]Music[/name].” I could get behind any of the childrens’ names in that story :3

And in that vein, I think the reason I loathe [name]Heidi[/name] as much as I do is because I hated that book!

I have always loved [name]Liesel[/name]. Would have chosen it for my daughter if hubby would have agreed.

I LOVE Liesel. It’s a great alternate to Elizabeth. It’s also the name of the main character in The Book Thief , an excellent read.

My only very tiny aversion to it is that it rhymes with Weasel. Otherwise, love it.
