Primrose or Penrose?

I have always loved the name [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], but i just recently found [name_u]Penrose[/name_u]. I dont know which one I like more! Can you tell me your opinions, what one you like more? Thanks

I secretly like both, but would never use either. To me [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] is all boy. I think it lends well to the nickname [name_m]Penn[/name_m] which I love. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is so dainty. It’s gorgeous, but maybe a bit fragile.

I was in the same boat and decided that [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] was for me. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are nice but I have the same problem with [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] that I have with [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] or [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] namely Prim, Prude and Priss. [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] doesn’t have that. It does have the awesome nn’s [name_u]Pen[/name_u], [name_f]Posey[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] which I really love.
Also in the current climate [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is too Hunger Games for me - I really disliked the books when I listened to them on tape so [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is tainted in my mind because of that. [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] is free of that. (Also I always consider it a plus when other people like a similar name more and when their objection - i.e. medical implement, or more masculine or less familiar with don’t get under my skin at all).

I prefer [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], but there is an association with the Hunger Games, so you would have to decide if that bothers you or not.

I prefer [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] out of the two.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] as a quick note - in the medical community a [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] drain is a piece of rubber piping inserted into a patient to help infection drain.

I like [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] more. [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] is a common surname where I’m from so I struggle to see it as a first name.

[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. Great nickname possibilities too: Pri, Prim, [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] secret love is Sweetbrier (as in the wild rose).

I prefer [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. I grew up on [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u], so before the Hunger Games came out I had already considered the beautiful [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] as a first name. I love the nickname Prim.

[name_u]Penrose[/name_u] seems made up, or a term for something. It also does not look nice spelled out.

[name_u]Penrose[/name_u] feels masculine. And yes, a penrose drain is used to drain fluid after a surgical procedure. However, they aren’t used as much as they were in the past (they’re messy).

I prefer [name_u]Penrose[/name_u]. As a writing-inclined person, I’m drawn to the “pen” portion of the name. Prim in [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] makes me think of rigid propriety, which is definitely not a plus in my mind.

I prefer [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], I much prefer [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] for a boy, and I think [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is just generally prettier…

I love both names but I’m afraid I always saw them as Girl/Boy twin names.

[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] for the girl
[name_u]Penrose[/name_u] for the boy
