It’s been announced that [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] are having another baby. It will be interesting to see what the name this one. If it’s a girl I personally hope to see the names [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in there.
I hope they have a girl this time. I would like to see a little princess [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
I would love to see [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] choose [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for a little girl.
For a boy: [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], maybe?
I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would be lovely. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] to honour his dad and her mum. And the middles are obvious.
I really hope it’s not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I mean, I love the name, but it’s such an overused choice for the royal family! I would love to see them use a DIFFERENT vintage name, rather than thinking, [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] etc.
I’d love to see [name_f]Diana[/name_f] in the girl’s name or [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] in the boy’s, for obvious reasons. Otherwise I hope they stick to some lesser known vintage names.
I wander if they will choose something more outlandish for their second child, or if it will be predictably royal. My guesses are [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. Already very excited for this new baby!
Last time they didn’t choose any names to honor someone, I’m betting they won’t do it this time. They wil choose names they like so there probably won’t be a [name_f]Diana[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] in there.
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] isn’t to honour someone? [name_m]George[/name_m] the name of [name_m]William[/name_m]'s great-grandfather as well as a number of other family members including the [name_m]Earl[/name_m] of St Andrews; [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is after [name_m]Lord[/name_m] Mountbatten, the assassinated godfather of [name_m]William[/name_m]'s father; [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] has long been a family name, especially from the [name_f]Queen[/name_f] Mother’s side of the family.
They’ve broken tradition with only three names for the heir; my guess is that they’ll do it again. I doubt it will be [name_u]James[/name_u] as that is the name of Viscount Severn, [name_m]William[/name_m]'s young cousin. There hasn’t been a [name_u]Michael[/name_u] in the family since [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] of [name_m]Kent[/name_m] and that might be an obvious choice. Perhaps there might be a nod to Scottish ancestors, given everything that is going on and that [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] met at St Andrews.
For a girl, I’d expect [name_f]Frances[/name_f] as one of the middles; it would be nice to see perhaps the Scottish [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or even [name_f]Margery[/name_f] there.
Still holding out for [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]!
My understanding is that they have a pool of certain names that they can only choose from. My best bet is:
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f],
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f],
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
This is a little off-topic and not to be nit-picky at all, but the “[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]” in the title is literally hurting my eyes.
I was dead certain they wouldn’t try for nr. 2 till next year but I am so glad I was wrong. [name_m]George[/name_m] and this little one will definitely benefit from being close in age in the future.
For a girl, I am still holding out for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] which was my top pick for [name_m]George[/name_m] had he been a girl. I think she is even more likely to happen now that it’s “just” the spare. I have a strong feeling that [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would have happened had [name_m]George[/name_m] been a girl. I am puzzled as to whether they will include [name_f]Diana[/name_f] in a girl’s name or not. They didn’t include either [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Philip[/name_m] or [name_u]Michael[/name_u] in [name_m]George[/name_m]'s name, so I am beginning to doubt it. It would probably be good the same if they didn’t, she would be compared to [name_f]Diana[/name_f] enough already. I love the idea of including [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] as an homage to [name_f]Scotland[/name_f], but I somehow only find that plausible if the independence vote turns out with a No majority.
Initial guess: [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]; [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], if [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] stays in the UK; or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], if they want to pay homage to [name_f]Diana[/name_f].
For a boy, I have no clue. There are so many boys in the royal family already occupying the traditional names and since they used [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] for [name_m]George[/name_m], I don’t see neither [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nor [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] happening. I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a good guess. I also like the idea of using [name_m]Henry[/name_m] without calling him [name_m]Harry[/name_m].
Initial guess: [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m]; or, if they want to play it safe, [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u].
I would hardly say that [name_m]George[/name_m] is named for the [name_m]Earl[/name_m] of St Andrews and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is widely reported to have been [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]'s favourite name, but I definitely agree, [name_m]George[/name_m]'s name is not just a random bunch of names thrown together even though they haven’t used neither [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Philip[/name_m] nor [name_u]Michael[/name_u].
While I WANT to see a [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]DO[/name_f] think it’s plausible, I think that [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is the most likely name for a girl, as it would honor both [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and [name_f]Carole[/name_f].
For a girl, I think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] would work well (despite the fact that [name_m]George[/name_m]'s middle name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]). And while I would love a [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] - I do not think they will name their child [name_f]Diana[/name_f], but rather use that name in the middle slot. Can’t you picture a [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]? [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]? I am also partial to [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but I do not know if that is realistic. I could also see [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (but called [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], or some other derivative).
For a boy I could see [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]. I could also see an [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- name. [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]. [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]! [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], and [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]! [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]!!
Well, that’s good news. It does surprise me that she’s pregnant so soon. [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] only just turned one in [name_f]July[/name_f]. I like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] for a boy and either [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] for a girl.
I think the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family always go with a name that’s already a family name I think it would be more interesting if they gave the next [name_u]Royal[/name_u] baby a more different choice something like [name_u]Connie[/name_u], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] that would be alot more exciting!
I’m fairly sure the [name_m]Prince[/name_m] goes by [name_u]Alex[/name_u] to his family, so they probably won’t include [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in their choices. I also think you’re all right to some degree, they need to stay fairly conservative and choose a few honour names, but they’re also choosing an everyday name that is modern enough and that they love.
Maybe they choose old royal name like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] or [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] (RL English princesses).
Why would he go by [name_u]Alex[/name_u]? [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is not his first name nor is he called [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] by anyone. After his name was revealed, [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] said that [name_m]George[/name_m] would probably soon turn into [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. That said, I don’t doubt that [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] won’t be used. [name_f]Alice[/name_f], however, is still plausible.
@shvibziks I thought we were all having fun speculating about a family we can’t possibly actually know the inside workings of?? I’ve long speculated that such a modern couple like [name_m]Will[/name_m]&[name_f]Kate[/name_f] would choose to call their son [name_u]Alex[/name_u] instead of [name_m]George[/name_m], while at home. You know, keep some things private when everything else is on display? But I agree, I can’t possibly know for sure, just like you can’t possibly know that no one calls him [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
Based on the fact that [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]'s middle name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and her mother’s middle name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], it seems likely that she’ll pass on that tradition if it’s a daughter, no matter how obvious and overused [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] might seem to the world. I’d also like to see [name_f]Diana[/name_f] there too, but I won’t be surprised if they go for a more subtle nod like [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. So my vote for a girl is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
For a boy, perhaps [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
