I’ve lately become a bit obsessed with names from the early [name_m]Christian[/name_m] church, so I’m not surprised that I’m crushing on this pretty severely right now. [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] seems fairly dated to me, unfortunately (probably isn’t, that’s just the general feeling I get from it?), but [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] seems so fresh and ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] in such a delightful way, and if I’m understanding it correctly, was probably Biblical [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]'s birth name, anyhow.
What do you think? I think it’s pretty straightforward, PRISS-kah, and seems so sweet and unexpected! It reminds me of [name_f]Priya[/name_f] in a way (which I also adore!), but feels more usable to me because though I have [name_f]Indian[/name_f] blood, it’s so far back only a DNA test was able to reveal it.
What would a little [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] be like? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’d be easy to wear? At this point I was more thinking of it as a middle name, although my favorite option ([name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f]) doesn’t flow that well for me, so I’m not sure. I was also thinking about [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but I am rather loathe to break up [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] at this point… I was also slightly considering [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] “[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]”… [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest other ideas, though, if you can think of something amazing!
Thanks, Berries!
I like it, but upon first sight I was unsure of how to pronounce it. It became more lovely after reading it a few times.
I think it would work as s first name if you felt so inclined, but yes, it would be great as a middle as well. I like the bounciness of [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f], especially the [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] part. Maybe another lilting three+ syllable first name would work better for you? [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]?
I quite like [name_f]Prisca[/name_f]! It has a sharp but sweet and interesting sound.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is lovely! I kind of like [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] too - sweet and bouncy. Maybe [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]/[name_u]June[/name_u]?
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] might be nice too
Some other ideas:
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f])
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Harriet[/name_f])
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Maeve[/name_f])
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Ivy[/name_f])
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f])
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Astrid[/name_f])
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] ([name_f]Faith[/name_f])
Not sure if they’re quite your style so I apologise if they’re not 100% right
My instinct was to say “Prissa”, because I assumed it was just the nickname for [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] still to [name_f]Prisca[/name_f]. [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] is very beautiful. [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] is okay though, nothing bad about it. It’s unique and I like the names you picked out to go with it.
Faves:
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
&
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Prisca[/name_f] is nice - kind of sharp, but also sweet. Admittedly, I wanted to say PRISS-uh due to its similarity to [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], so that might be something to be aware of, as I imagine many may do the same.
I think [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] flows well, and has a great, zesty, bubbly sound to it, but my favourite is [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] “[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]” ([name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] “[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]” would also be nice, sticking with your two middle combos).
A little love of mine is Iscah, which is very similar in sound and also Biblical - you may also like that?
I also thought it was PRISS-ah at first but now I’ve seen your pronunciation that makes a lot more sense. It’s definitely unexpected. I’m not really sure what to make of it. Still feeling the newness of the name I guess. I see the connection to [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] but on it’s own it feels more slavic like [name_f]Mariska[/name_f] or [name_f]Agnieszka[/name_f]. Although I’m finding the “sca” ending a little abrupt and incomplete in this case. It could be the short ‘i’ and two syllables. Preferring this more as an affectionate nickname right now, maybe for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] or [name_f]Patricia[/name_f].
I like your [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] combination. It’s quite whimsical, I can imagine her in a fairytale. Here are some of the combinations I thought of: [name_f]Rozelle[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] Concertina, [name_f]Marlaina[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Sinead[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Antonina[/name_f], [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Liljana[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_u]Dale[/name_u]
Thanks, everyone! [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] was more my concern over [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f], but the more I say [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f] the less I like it, le sigh. If I wasn’t so tied to using [name_f]Luella[/name_f] and [name_f]Plum[/name_f] together, I’d consider something like [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or something along those lines.
And funny story, the Biblical [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] was probably said with a hard “K” sound? It looks like it would’ve been a kappa in Greek, which is always like a “K” rather than a “S” sound.
I am starting to like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] more–I always waffle between just [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]?–but I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] is really sweet. I’ve been considering [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] Mirai, too, so it’s a toss-up which of the two I prefer…
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] with [name_f]Prisca[/name_f], too–I’d probably opt for [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] over [name_f]Prisca[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], but I appreciate the idea, all the same!
I’d love to hear people’s thoughts, if anyone else has something they’d like to add!
