For me it’s Row-ENN-a.
Row-EEE-nuh is how I pronounce it.
I tested this out on friends and family when we were thinking of naming [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Rowena[/name]. I wanted it to be pronounced [name]Ro[/name]-Wen-Uh but not a single person saw it that way. It doesnt help that there is a main street near where we live by that name and of course, everyone pronounces it [name]Ro[/name]-Ween-uh.
So in the end we went with [name]Rowan[/name]. [name]Just[/name] to be sure there were no questions about pronunciation. But it is obviously a less-feminine way to go which isn’t everyone’s cup o’ tea.
I’ve actually only heard ROW-en-ah, as if you were just adding an ‘ah’ sound to the end of [name]Rowan[/name]. I think it sounds really pretty this way, but the [name]Ro[/name]-ween-ah pronunciation kind of ruins it.
Nooooo. I always thought it was Row-ENN-a not Row-EE-na. I’ve always been on the fence about this name, but now I’m definitely not into it! I suppose Row-EE-na isn’t that bad, but [name]Ro[/name]-WEE-na is terrible.
[name]Ro[/name](like row row row your boat)-wen (like the word when)-uh
I agree with the first poster, row-ENN-ah
