I would like this pronounced [name]Ah[/name]-ree-elle, but how would you pronounce it? Is there a way to make sure it is pronounced that way?
I pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-ri-elle too. I think this spelling should prevent most people from saying it the way (at least in the US) says [name]Ariel[/name] (air-ee-elle). I think if someone pronounces it the other way just tell them how you want it to be pronounced I would also think calling your child “[name]Ari[/name]” would help too.
I pronounce it are-YELL, but that’s mainly because that’s how my friend said it, and she was seriously considering it for one of her triplets a couple years ago. She lived in [name]France[/name] and that was the common pronunciation there. are-ee-elle is very pretty and I would think that if that’s how you say it people would just follow your lead! I mean, if I introduce myself as [name]Ashley[/name] I doubt people would call me OSH-lee or something, kwim? I’m definitely in favor of the nn [name]Ari[/name], though! ([name]Just[/name] fyi… I’ve heard the nn [name]Ari[/name] said like ARE-ee and [name]AIR[/name]-ee, so I don’t know that using the nn [name]Ari[/name] would really help with pronunciation any more than just using your pronunciation of [name]Arielle[/name]…)
Good luck!
I would pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-ree-elle myself, but I know some may pronounce it [name]Air[/name]-ee-elle, like the Disney princess.
I pronounce it Ahr- ee-ell like you do. I think the spelling [name]Ariel[/name] is is suppose to be pronounced air-ee-el and [name]Arielle[/name] is pronounced ahr-ee-elle.
I say Ariel and Arielle both the French was which is “ah ree ell” like youre wanting it to be said, though I suppose Ariel could also be said “air ee ell” but Arielle is strictly french (as far as I know) so I think the prn you like is best.
You can listen to them here
Edited to say ashthedreamer’s phonetic prn is probably the best way to describe it! I tried saying it outloud as “are yell” and you still get the “ee” sound that is heard in the french prn or at least I do but I felt funny trying to say “are yell” outloud and my husband is looking at me like Im crazy lol
I have a niece named [name]Arielle[/name]; they use this spelling and pronounce it “ah-ree-[name]EL[/name].” I know the extended family says it the way her parents like, but I don’t know about people they meet everyday (she is in high school).
I pronounce [name]Arielle[/name] and [name]Ariel[/name] almost the same. [name]Arielle[/name] = air-ee-[name]ELLE[/name] and [name]Ariel[/name] = [name]AIR[/name]-ee-elle. It’s a slight difference in the emphasis. I’ve heard of [name]Ariel[/name] pronounced as ah-ree-elle, but never [name]Arielle[/name] (but then again I only know Ariels).
I knew an [name]Arielle[/name] and she was always getting her name mispronounced in school, so the whole class came up with a way to help teachers: “Like the letters R-E-L”.
My name is [name]Arielle[/name] and I pronounce it [name]Air[/name]-ee-Elle or Air-ee-elle, but people always mispronounce my name.
In australia we would say it ahr-ee-elle. I nanny a little girl named [name]Ariella[/name] pronounced ahr-ee-ella and she goes by [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Ella[/name] as a nm instead of [name]Ari[/name].
I pronounce it arri-elle, the ahr- is very difficult to say in my accent without affecting another one, mind you, and I’ve never known anyone with the name either to base it off of.
I say [name]Ah[/name]-ree-el or Arry-el, but never Airy-el (unless someone introduced herself to me pronounced that way). I would say [name]Ariel[/name] and [name]Arielle[/name] the same way.
I would pronounce the spelling [name]Arielle[/name] as “[name]Ah[/name]-ree-elle.” I would pronounce the spelling [name]Ariel[/name] as “[name]Air[/name]-ee-el” (like the [name]Little[/name] Mermaid)
I pronounce it as [name]Air[/name]-ee-ell-eh
Would pronounce [name]Arielle[/name] [name]Ah[/name]-ree-ell, or more phonetically arry-elle
I’d pronounce [name]Ariel[/name] [name]Air[/name]-ee-ell because of The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid but I believe the correct pronounciation is Ahr-ee-ell or more phonetically R-E-l…it looks odd but makes sense when you say it aloud. [name]Ariel[/name] is a hebrew name,I’ve seen a few posters on here with the name explain the pronounciation.
I think people would, nine times out of 10,pronounce [name]Arielle[/name] is exactly how you want it to be. Accents can make it sound different though. It’s very pretty!
for some reason even though they’re practically the same bar 2 letters that could for all intents and purposes be silent I pronounce [name]Ariel[/name] and [name]Arielle[/name] differently, [name]Arielle[/name] I pronounce like the letters R-E-L, hard on the ‘R’ but [name]Ariel[/name] I pronounce ‘air-re-elle’ I guess it’s sort of weird
I agree, I’d assume
[name]Arielle[/name] - R-E-L (cute, youssarian!)
[name]Ariel[/name] - [name]Air[/name]-ee-elle (like the mermaid)
I pronounce it the same as you do, and I think it’s quite nice
I would pronounce it the way you do, but I think a lot of people would pronounce it [name]Air[/name]-ee-el.
