I do think it would be a little strange to have an [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] and [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m], pronounced differently. [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] (muh-kay-uh) sounds pretty feminine to me too. Good luck!

Thank you for responding.

I would go with what Behind the Name says.

I’ve only ever heard “mi-[name_u]KYE[/name_u]-uh.”

With that in mind is [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] and [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] too much for one family?

I voted mie-[name_u]KAY[/name_u]-uh and I think it is much too much when paired with [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]

I wouldn’t use [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] and [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] for brothers, personally. I would avoid another -iah ending.

Thanks. I thought that too thats why I really liked [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_u]Asa[/name_u] but wanted to find something else just in case because they were recently used on girls and in case they get too popular I want a back up. I thought [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] would work but I guess not.

I have never heard of this name… I immediately thought it was a different spelling of [name_u]Micah[/name_u], which is one of my favorite boy names. But now looking at the spelling, and the pronunciations I’d say Mie-[name_u]Kay[/name_u]-uh. I also agree that [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] is too similar in sound to [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]. :frowning:

[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] is a nice name. I’d stop while you are ahead.

LOL Thanks. I’ll tell him that.

It’s a “variation” of Micah with Micaiah meaning “Who is like Yah” (Yah being god’s name) while Micah simply means “Who is like god”.
I’ve mostly heard it pronounced Mi-kaw-yah (Mi-kah-yah). While the name is of Hebrew origin, Micaiah is an English name (the Hebrew name translates into a different spelling in each language) and thus should be pronounced the English way. The Hebrew name would actually end with more of an -yuh sound.
I do think that it’s a bit too close to Isaiah and maybe a bit too complicated in general however since both your sons have names ending in -iah you could just make it a theme (especially since Elijah is so close in sound, too).

I would pronounce it mi-[name_u]KYE[/name_u]-uh. I’ve only known one little girl with this name, but it was unfortunately spelled MaKaiya.

I love the name [name_u]Asa[/name_u]! I wouldn’t let it stop you that someone named their daughter this. It’s a man’s name.

I disagree with other posters, [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] would be a handsome addition to your set if you want to continue the -iah theme. I’ve only ever heard it pronounced mah-[name_u]KYE[/name_u]-ah

I’ve only ever heard it pronounced “mih-kye-uh”.

Since ‘aiah’ in [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] is pronounced AYE-uh, then I would assume ‘aiah’ in [name_m]Micaiah[/name_m] is pronounced the same (i.e., mie-[name_u]KAY[/name_u]-uh)

I say muh-kie-ah

I would go with Mi-kye-ah
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you say [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] and [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] I-zay-ah and [name_m]Zack[/name_m]-a-ry-ah? I think there all fine pronounced that way it’s actually a lovely sibset.
