Pronunciation of Wilhelmine

Would the last syllable be pronounced the same as [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]? [name_m]Wil[/name_m]-uh-meen? Some other way? I’ve discovered that my great great grandmother’s name was Wihlemina, which I kind of love as a potential middle name, but I think I’d prefer the “een” sound at the end with the first name we’ve chosen. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure how to best accomplish that, spelling-wise.

Perhaps a better question would be how would you pronounce the name if you saw it spelled this way. I think the proper [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation may be Vil-hel-meena or Vil-hel-me-neh, but I’m thinking most English speakers would pronounce it with an “-een” ending, like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Any thoughts?

I would say it is probably pronounced closer to the [name_m]German[/name_m] one, Vil-hel-me-neh. Although, at first glance, I would have said [name_m]Wil[/name_m]-uh-mine.

I would assume that this was pronounced the [name_m]German[/name_m] way:
Vil hel MEE na

I would pronounce it how you want, wil-lah-meen.
