I’ve only ever heard it as ex-ay-vee-er in real life but nameberry says it’s actually zay-vee-er. Have you heard either in real life/how would you think it was pronounced at first glance?
I say it with the harsher X and prefer it that way. (Like Professor [name]Xavier[/name] from X-Men)
However, I also know a man named with it pronounced with the softer Z sound, which doesn’t appeal to me as much. It’s a matter of personal preference.
I pronounce it zay-vee-er and have only ever heard it said that way here in Australia. I much prefer it this way but that probably is because it is what I am used to!
I pronounce it ex-ay-vee-er, and every [name]Xavier[/name] I’ve ever met pronounces it that way as well.
Most “x” names are pronounced with a “z” so [name]Xavier[/name] should be “zay-vee-er”.
I would pronounce it with an H sound (Hah-vee-ehr) or with a Z sound.
@katemp91 - The Spanish [name]Javier[/name] would be pronounced with an H sound.
I would assume “zay-vee-ur” if I had to read it aloud
I’ve only known one, my cousin. His name was zay-vee-er but lots of people called him x-zay-vee-er so I’m used to both. I prefer zay-vee-er or zaw-vee-er
I’ve only heard it pronounced ex-ay-vee-er. That’s how I would pn it first.
I also pronounce it ex-ZAY-vee-er, like Professor [name]Xavier[/name] from the X-Men. There are at least three, if not more, pronunciations that are commonly used.
The only one I know is pronounced zay-vee-er.
I know a boy who is [name]Xavier[/name] and it is ex-ay-vee-er but in our English accent - and when said quickly - the ex can sound a bit like igs. Subconsciously when I read [name]Xavier[/name] I I say zay-vee-er because I usually pronounce all X’s as Z’s, e.g. with [name]Xenia[/name], I would saw zen-yah not ex-zen-yah or something. 
The only ones I’ve met [name]IRL[/name] are French, so for me it’s zahv-yay. [name]Prior[/name] to that, my only encounter with the name was on the butt of Cabbage Patch Dolls, and I assumed that it was ex-ayv-yur.

ex-zay-vee-er drives me batty! There is no ‘x’ and ‘z’! The ‘x’ is only pronounced once (ex- or in zay-), not twice (which is what happens in ex-zay-).
When I was a teenager, I babysat a baby boy named [name]Xavier[/name] (British father/American mother) and they pronounced his name “ZAV-ee-ay.”
In [name]New[/name] Zealand its almost always pronounced zay-vee-er. I personally prefer it pronounced that way too.
I didn’t even realize it could be pronounced any way other than “zahv’yay” until I was 20 or so. And then I learned “cha-vee-ehr”… I still haven’t gotten in to the English pronunciation and I’ve only know French & Catalan guys named [name]Xavier[/name] so I’ve never heard it used in English outloud.
