Have any of you ever encountered this problem? I’ve loved the name [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] ever since I was about nine, but I thought then that it was pronounced (zo), as in [name_m]Joe[/name_m]. Then I discovered the real pronunciation, and it took me awhile to fall in love with it again. The last couple of weeks, I’ve been entertaining the thought that I could use the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation of [name_m]Zo[/name_m]é, which I thought was (zo-ay). [name_m]Just[/name_m] goes to show you how much I know about [name_m]French[/name_m]. Anyway, today I figured out the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation is more along the lines of (zoo-ee), and my hopes have been dashed yet again : ( So do any of you know of a legitimate name that would have such a pronunciation (zo-ay)? Thanks.
P.S. Would also like to hear your GP pronunciations : )
Have you ever heard of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]? She actually pronounces [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] as [name_m]Zo[/name_m] (like [name_m]Joe[/name_m]), and I’ve seen it spelled with umlauts over the e.
I agree with the suggestion of [name_m]Zo[/name_m] for a pronunciation like [name_m]Joe[/name_m] and also that [name_m]Zo[/name_m]é is actually pronounced [name_m]Zo[/name_m]-AY in [name_m]French[/name_m].
[name_f]Zoelie[/name_f] - not sure if there is supposed to be an accent, or if i pronounce it correctly, but I say it zo-AY-lee. nn [name_m]Zo[/name_m]? [name_m]Worth[/name_m] looking into…
Thanks everyone! I guess that you cannot count on online pronunciations. I suppose I might be able to learn [name_m]French[/name_m] afterall : ) I’ll have to look into [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoelie[/name_f], too. Thanks again!!
My name is [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] and people call me zo all the time. It’s hard to avoid it even though my name is already short! I’d say just go with [name_m]Zo[/name_m]ë and call her [name_m]Zo[/name_m]
