Pronunciation?

I have heard many ways of pronouncing this name… [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. I really like it, and I want to know how you guys pronounce it. Please say where you are from in your answer. Thanks!

I pronounce it

[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-REH-lee-uh

And I’m from the [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Northwest, USA. (Seattle/Anchorage)

I used to live in a town in upstate [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] where [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] was part of our local hospital’s name. The two most common pronunciations I heard were ah-RAYL-yuh and ah-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-uh.

ah-ray-lee uh

[name_f]Alabama[/name_f]

Okay, hopefully this makes sense…I find this a difficult name to explain how I pronounce it. I’m from [name_m]Melbourne[/name_m] and I pronounce it sort of like or-rel-ee-uh.

I’m from [name_f]Florida[/name_f] and I pronounce it like or-RAYL-yuh

Hmm… I seem to be alone in my pronunciation.

I thought the beginning sound was the same as the boy name [name_u]Auberon[/name_u]. So I pronounce it like o-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-uh. I have no idea how it is actually supposed to be pronounced. I should probably Google it.

In [name_u]California[/name_u] here. I’ve heard it as o-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-uh as well.

[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-rell-yuh

“Ow-REL-yah” is the way I pronounce [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. The “ray” pronunciation may be the European version (Spanish/Italian/Portuguese etc…).

UK here and would say

Or-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-lee-a

[name_f]Florida[/name_f] here, and (or-ay-lee-uh) is how I pronounce it. I like it, but I think it’s getting a bit popular (at least on here).

[name_f]England[/name_f].

‘ow-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-a/lya’ because that’s the original pronunciation and I try my hardest to always use them.

I say it somewhere between Aw-REH-lee-uh and [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-REL-yuh.

Or-eel-ya. Originally from midwest US.

I pronounce it ohr-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-ah. I used to pronounce it ah-REEL-ee-ah, but I’ve since come to prefer the European version. oh-rel-yah is nice, too, though.

I say Or-eel-ee-yuh

oh-RAYL-yuh for me too, but saying it quickly the first syllable usually comes out as er.

I say it Aw-[name_u]RAY[/name_u]-lee-uh. I think it’s a beautiful name! I’m from Australia

I’m from NZ, and I pronounce it much the same as @fiammetta does: or-rel-ee-uh.
