Pronunciations mentioned in name descriptions

Is there anywhere on Nameberry we can look to see how names are pronounced? I think it will be a really good idea having the various ways names can be pronounced in their Nameberry descriptions. If you did originally include them, is there any reason they were taken out?

By the way, I love Nameberry  We are not planning another baby for a while if we decide on another (we have a 2 1/2 yr old and 4 month old) but I can’t stop visiting, such a great read!

I don’t think there is any pronunciation guide on Nameberry. When I want to find out the pronunciation of a name I use BehindtheName.

Thanks for that  I’ve looked up sites to find out but didn’t know about that one, I"ll check it out. Half the time I get pronunciations wrong

I use behindthename.com and forvo.com

Forvo is a fantastic resource for pronunciations  it takes the guesswork out of IPA and anglicized spellings of sounds.

I love Forvo too, but it doesn’t always work on my phone :frowning: Maybe I should get the app. I’d love if Nameberry had pronunciations too- ideally names spelled out phonetically as well as a sound clip, but even one or the other for all names would be great!

On certain names, there are pronunciation guides. See [name_m]Olivier[/name_m], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Morag[/name_f], and [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f]. Not all names have them though.

Excellent! thanks everyone  sorry I took so long to reply I forgot I posted this!

Those tips will come in handy for when I go back to work too. Australia is very multicultural and we have quite creative namers
