[name_m]Hi[/name_m], Berries, could you each please pick out your top 5 (+/-) here? Please tell me why you chose what you did? [name_f]My[/name_f] partner and I went through and culled a massive [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] combo list and this is what we are left with. We started out feeling like, “Well, with [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] shouldn’t we choose a super normal name to go along?” And then the combos that spoke to us were not all super normal. Such is life. [name_u]Jule[/name_u] is an honor name. Others are honors, too (basic details given, plus some children’s book character references/context for DH’s favorites)
[name_f]My[/name_f] top five (in no particular order) would be:
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u] - [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] is such a sweet name and criminally underused. I think it sounds lovely here.
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] Maëlys [name_u]Jule[/name_u] - I love the idea of Maëlys honouring you through it’s dual meanings of mother and lily.
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u] - I like that [name_f]Edith[/name_f] brings the combination back down to earth a little. It’s an underused classic, and it adds a little bit of seriousness, as both [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] and [name_u]Jule[/name_u] are more unusual names, and [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] is quite dramatic.
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u] [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] - I really surprised myself by liking this, as it’s quite different to the others. I think it just has a really fun and joyful sound
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u] - Like with [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] brings some seriousness to the combo. It’s a sweet name and it balances the others really well.
Honourable mention to [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u] - I love [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], but I think it might be a bit too much with [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f], as it’s also got prominent S sounds and is quite unusual. That said, I think this is a really charming combo.
With all of these combos, I think the flow is good. I really like the 4-2-1 syllable pattern (which they mostly share), and I prefer the non-matchy endings of these middles with [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] and [name_u]Jule[/name_u].
Top 5
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Cordis[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u]- I love the soft elegance of [name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] with the tough strength of [name_f]Cordis[/name_f], I think it makes the combination feel regal and strong
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] Léonie [name_u]Jule[/name_u]- this was my favorite flow out of the whole list but I was thrilled to see that it has a ton of meaning to you as well!
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u]- I really like [name_f]Ismay[/name_f], it’s strong and feminine yet quirky, and brings a lot of spunk into the combo
[name_f]Proserpina[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u]- the flow here is also wonderful, but I love the femininity of a flower name in the middle
[name_f]Proserpine[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u]- this one is lengthy but is so bright and fun that I had to include it!
Thanks everyone. I’m loving the bunch that is pulled out here. These are a really strong grouping I couldn’t have narrowed myself.
Criminally underused indeed.
I likewise surprised myself with that one.
This is definitely my partner’s preferred flow. We have a one syllable surname but his assessment is “4-2-1-1 sounds like a completed story. 4-1-2-1 sounds like there is more to tell.” The name we picked out for my first to use on a girl was also 4-2-1-1.
I agree she shines so bright. I don’t normally even enjoy [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] much.
I think my favorites are Prim, Prosie, and [name_f]Pippie[/name_f] for others, and [name_u]Snapdragon[/name_u], [name_m]Spyro[/name_m], Peppa, and [name_f]Nina[/name_f] for pet names…
