We have a 2 year old daughter that has called her sister “baby petunia” since we found out we were expecting. We’ve even started calling her [name]Petunia[/name] bc we’re keeping her name a secret from family & friends. We decided her name will be [name]Zoe[/name] (shhh!!) but are having trouble agreeing on a middle name. We’ve talked about [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] but I’m afraid she’ll hate me one day for letting a 2 year old pick her name. What do you think ?? Adorable or terrible?
I don’t think it’s awful. It will be a sweet story, and it’s in the middle, so it’s not that big a deal. Obviously it also depends on the last name, but I really don’t mind it at all.
I love [name]Zoe[/name] and I think [name]Petunia[/name] is okay, but I love [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name]. It’s adorable and I wouldn’t feel bad about my sister having picked my name, I would feel so happy and connected to her. I love it and it’s special. Use it, it’s sounds nice too.
[name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] is really cute [name]IMO[/name]! Out of all the names a two year old could have suggested [name]Petunia[/name] is really pretty! It’ll be a cute story plus if she doesn’t like it, not many people will know her mn!
I think it is rather special, plus you can keep her family nn of [name]Petunia[/name].
[name]Love[/name] [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] as a combo.
I think [name]Petunia[/name] is lovely! And [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] is very sweet.
I think it’s a sweet idea. [name]Petunia[/name] actually has a quite quirky/cute sound. With all the nature names that are very popular atm, I think it fits right in. Plus it’s a mn and has meaning behind it! I say go for it, [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] flows really well also.
Good luck!
I love [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name]! It’s quirky cute and has a sweet story behind it.
I too like [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name]. You can read her the cute children’s book written by [name]Kevin[/name] Henkes Chrysanthemum. It is about a little girl who worried that her name, Chrysanthemum, is so different from all the other children at school. Then she meets the beautiful music teacher who all the students adore. The teacher tells her she loves Chrysanthemum as a name because she too shares a flower name - [name]Petunia[/name]!
I also really like the idea that the two year old sister helped choose the name. When my son was two, he wanted to name our unborn baby [name]John[/name] Deere. So our second son’s middle name is [name]Jonathan[/name] as a result.
Plus, it would be cute to still have the nn [name]Petunia[/name] like you are using now.
[name]Petunia[/name] in the middle is really sweet and the combination sounds nice
When I saw the title of this, I was a bit apprehensive. [name]Petunia[/name] is all [name]Petunia[/name] Dursley to me, and I don’t know if it’s that I can’t get past the association or that I just don’t like the name, but I can’t quite bring myself to like it.
However, despite my biases against [name]Petunia[/name], I really like it with here! The story is really cute. I’m a huge proponent for somewhat off-beat middle names, and even though I don’t really like Petuna in the first name spot I think that it adds something really interesting and cute to [name]Zoe[/name].
So, having come into the thread expecting to try to talk you out of [name]Petunia[/name], I really love [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name]. I don’t think that it’s unwiedly or too out there, and I don’t think that she’ll hate you one day for it. The story and the combination are both really lovely.
I love it as a middle.
Tuney!
As a first name, I’d advise against it–because of [name]Petunia[/name] Dursley as much as anything else. As a middle name, though, I think it’s fine. [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] is awfully cute, and I bet she’ll like the story of how she got her name.
As an aside, I had a Great-Aunt [name]Petunia[/name], nn “Toon.” Her real name was [name]Mary[/name] [name]Ann[/name], but my grandma and the rest of her sisters called her [name]Petunia[/name] after an old song “I’m a Lonely [name]Little[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] (in an Onion Patch),” since Toon was the littlest and prettiest of the four girls. I’ve always thought it was adorable.
I personally think [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Petunia[/name] would be a really hard name to carry as an adult.
