Quadruplet Girls

After many years of IVF, we are now expecting 4 daughters. We believe we have chosen there first names, not 100% but pretty close. We are looking for middle name suggestions, although any suggestions are appreciated.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]

Also they are all 7 letter names except [name_f]Norah[/name_f] do you think this is a problem?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] kaytie. [name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry and congratulations on this big big big big blessing! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy and birth.

I like all of these names and think they make a cohesive set. With multiples of any number, I like for the names to be connected in a subtle way so that each kid’s name (and individuality) can shine on its own. I’d try to avoid matching closely in sound, but having the same number of letters is a nice hidden way to tie all the names together.

Maybe you could use [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for [name_f]Norah[/name_f], and then all the girls would have seven-letter full names. I do think that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a more intuitive spelling, and a four-letter nickname exists for the other three names too: [name_f]Addy[/name_f], [name_f]Lili[/name_f], [name_u]Coco[/name_u]/Cosy/[name_f]Etta[/name_f].

I also really really like [name_f]Honora[/name_f], which is only six letters, but is another easy route to [name_f]Norah[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f].

Maybe you could swap [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] then you’d have two seven-letter names and two six-letter names. This would also differentiate [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Lil[/name_f]- more - two different ending sounds.

Lots of ideas about your first names and no suggestions for middle names yet…

  • If you want to use family names, you could use the names of the girls’ aunts, grandmothers, or great-grandmothers.
  • You could connect the sibset by choosing names from the same theme (all nature names, for example).
  • I know one family with four adult children who all have their mother’s distinctive surname as their middle name. The oldest daughter now has two (soon to be three!) kids of her own and she’s carried on the tradition.

I hope I’ve given you some helpful ideas! Best of luck with the names!

I don’t think [name_f]Norah[/name_f] being 6 letters is noticeable. I think it works nicely having two two-syllable names and two three-syllable names. If you feel like they need to be unified more, you could do a bit of a theme with middle names.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]

I really like your choices! [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is especially intriguing – pretty, interesting and not something you hear every day.

I really don’t think it matters that [name_f]Norah[/name_f] has fewer letters than the other names. It feels like a cohesive fit in terms of style.

If you’re really hung up on it, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] jumps out as me as a 7-letter option that seems to fit your style. But I wouldn’t ditch a name you otherwise love just for this reason.

@Seedsandstones had some great suggestions for meaningful middles, above.

Here are some flower name ideas:

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

I didn’t even notice the lenght so I don’t think it’s a problem.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

It’s not often that I see groups of quads or more & they all have beautiful names. Well done! [name_f]Norah[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] & [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] are a gorgeous sibling set. I don’t think that [name_f]Norah[/name_f] not having seven letters is a huge deal. You could always do [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] to balance it out. I personally prefer the one ‘l’, but it could be a headache since the two 'l’s is more common.

Anyway, on to middle names!

[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] [name_u]Romilly[/name_u]

[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], & [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] work quite well together! I don’t think [name_f]Norah[/name_f]’s shortness stands out at all. (It helps that [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] is also two syllables.)

I love @katinka 's suggestion with all the flower middle names! That would be such a sweet way to connect all of their names. I might replace [name_f]Violet[/name_f] with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], though. I’m not loving the back to back long ‘i’ sounds in [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] myself. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] would be just as sweet, as well as less common.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to say loving your first names! As middle names I agree the nature/ flower way of creating a theme is a lovely one.

Another way of connecting would maybe be to use both yours and your partners grandmothers names

With regards to [name_f]Norah[/name_f], dropping one “l” in [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is probably the easiest way to even things up so you have two six and two seven letter names.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] are beautiful names! I don’t think it’s a problem that [name_f]Norah[/name_f] has six letters.

Previous suggestions for middle names I love:

[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]

The names seem to fit kind of two categories: [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] both sound sophisticated and [name_u]French[/name_u] and beautiful, and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] are still really nice but they are more practical and sound less extravagant. This could just be me, but I have to say I might feel a little jealous if I were in the second group. However, like I said, that’s probably just me. Anyway, middle names:

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Britney[/name_f]
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

You could try to make up for what I wrote above by giving the more practical names more extravagant middle names and the other two more typical middle names:

I absolutely love [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] but like @dogs_books, [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] feel slightly less special. I think because they feel more everyday compared to the other two which are a bit more different, they make a very cute sibset tho!
