Question: B-B?

I’ve been mulling this over for a while, but I just can’t decide if it’s horrible or fine, so it’s time to ask for some opinions! I’m in love with the name [name]Beatrix[/name], but our surname sounds like Ball-tiss. Is [name]Beatrix[/name] Ball-tiss too much of a mouthful? Her n.n. would be [name]Trixie[/name] I think. (Her sister would most likely be [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] with the n.n. [name]Lilou[/name])

Thank you

Hmmm… I don’t want to say this because I love [name]Beatrix[/name] so much, but I think its too similar.

I think it may be too similar. If you love [name]Beatrix[/name], it doesn’t matter. Many girls grow up, get married and change their last name anyway, so it may not be an issue later in life. However it would still be [name]Beatrix[/name] Balltiss when she’s in school, where most teasing occurs. Then again, she would have the initials B. B. and you could cal her [name]BeBe[/name], which I [name]LOVE[/name]!

My suggestion is to use [name]Beatrix[/name] in the middle. You can still call her [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Trixie[/name] (my girl’s name is [name]Grace[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] and I call her [name]Trixie[/name] sometimes).

I think they’re way too similar.

[name]Beatrix[/name] is also very similar to my last name - it’s not just the B, it’s the t in the middle and the s at the end in your case and an x-ish sound in mine., and I’ve managed to find plenty of others I love (I do really love it, though). I think it’s probably better to move on if you can - I also find [name]Beatrix[/name] makes a great middle, and works with my last name better as a middle than as a first. Good luck!

Thank you for your responses! It really is helpful to hear an outside perspective, especially when your too “close” to it, ya know?

I think I’m going to go into the “What names are you considering for your baby” thread and ask if anyone can give me alternatives to [name]Beatrix[/name].

Thanks again!!
