Why do people like double barreled names?why do people like two middle names?
I’m not judging just curious because I genuinely don’t know.

If the names are long like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]-[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] than it’s too much but names like [name_f]Elly[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] work. Double barrled names are supposed to be short and snappy but still beautiful. The appeal is really to highlight shorter names that otherwise would be underappreciated.
I like double names in certain circumstances. I hate hyphens, as I think it makes things look tacky, but I like using multiple names.
In some cases, multiples are used because of needing to fit in honour names. Other times it’s just because they sound good, or because a name is too short and needs filling out.
My SO currently have [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] as a top contender for a boy. It was originally a FN and MN, but the more we use it/think about, we really like it as a double name, and are considering adding another middle.
I think over all it just comes down to taste and preferences…
I do not like double barreled names, but I do love using two middle names and completely intend to do so. I’ve always planned on using two middles because I think it makes a name look more complete. And as a name lover, why not get an extra one in?
I like two middle names as I have two, so it’s always been the norm. I also think it gives you the chance to use more names that you love without sounding like royalty as two middle names are rather common. If you want to honour people, you can honour a person from each side of the family while still giving your child their very own name as a first.
I’m not a huge fan of double first names, however, I do think that a combination of first and middle name as an occasional nickname (e.g. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]) can sound cute.
I am lukewarm about double first names, but I sometimes like two middle name combinations, especially if they flow better or look more complete. Three, however, is too much for me.
I dislike two middle names. I love double barrels, though. As a southern girl, it feels familiar and sweet.
Double barreled first names are sooo popular here. It’s nms, but it seems to be quite fashionable.
Double middle names are a mystery to me too, it’s so much name for one little baby. Then again, I’ve gone my whole life without even one middle name never mind two.
