Questioning our name pick

If our baby is a girl, we’ve been tossing around [name]Vida[/name] or [name]Kenzie[/name] and pretty much settled on [name]Kenzie[/name]. But now I have some naming doubts and want to throw a new name in the game:

Nemera

It’s hebrew, and after a fast google searched I learned that it means “leopard”. What do you think of the name? I love it’s uniqueness and that it has an animal meaning just like my son’s name. I also think it sounds great with the surname (Wilde). But I would really love to hear some opinions on this name.

Thank you!

I like [name]Vida[/name] out of the 3 choices. I have heard Nemera as a last name before. I really like your name

Hmmm, I certainly prefer [name]Vida[/name] and [name]Kenzie[/name]. And out of those two, I like both for different reasons. [name]Vida[/name] is fun but I still think it will grow with a little girl. [name]Kenzie[/name] is very cute and fun but might not age as well. Nemera is pretty, but so unfamiliar. Where is the syllable emphasis? Ne-MERE-a or NEM-er-a?

Which syllable is stressed? Is it:

neh-[name]MAIR[/name]-uh
or
NEM-uhr-uh?

Regardless, I like Nemera, and my second favorite on your list is [name]Vida[/name]. I can’t get into [name]Kenzie[/name] because of the trendy [name]McKenzie[/name]/[name]Mackenzie[/name]. I feel like she would be viewed as “just another [name]Kenzie[/name],” while Nemera’s or [name]Vida[/name]'s name would actually catch people’s attention.

I pronounce it like neh-MAIR-uh

Not a fan of any of the names. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Drake[/name] [name]Zephyr[/name]! I think you need an equally fabulous name to go with it. It seems like you like names that are a little on the exotic side. Here are some I think would go well with [name]Drake[/name]:

[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Mira[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Athena[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Cassie[/name] (instead of [name]Kenzie[/name])
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Mia[/name]
[name]Bianca[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]

I agree completely. Nemera is very interesting and sounds marvelous with Wilde, and [name]Vida[/name] would be my second choice. I could not condone the use of [name]Kenzie[/name], über-trendy sawed-off surname that it is, with brother [name]Drake[/name] [name]Zephyr[/name].

My only concern with Nemera is that it’s so unfamiliar that people might think you just made it up, which would be a shame.

[name]Do[/name] you like any of the lion names for girls? [name]Leona[/name], [name]Leonie[/name], [name]Leontyne[/name]?

Yep, this exactly.
It’s a very pretty sound, but it’s so unique that I wouldn’t know what to make of it if I was introduced to someone named Nemera

What about [name]Nova[/name]?

I much prefer [name]Vida[/name] or Nemera to [name]Kenzie[/name]. I live in an area where the name [name]Kenzie[/name] is very common. From the three I say I prefer [name]Vida[/name] the best, classic, beautiful and still easy to spell and say. Nemera looks like a beautiful name and the meaning is awesome, I just wonder how difficult a time she will have with people pronouncing it.

Not a fan of [name]Kenzie[/name] either, for the same reasons that [name]Blade[/name] mentioned.

I think [name]Vida[/name] and Nemera are both lovely. I love animal names to begin with though.

There is a legendary character and a direwolf named Nymeria in [name]George[/name] R.R. [name]Martin[/name]'s novels A Song of Ice and [name]Fire[/name] (Game of Thrones), which kind of reminds me of Nemera. Anyway, off topic, but I think Nymeria is lovely as well.

I like [name]Vida[/name] and then Nemera. Agree with [name]Blade[/name] about [name]Kenzie[/name].
Good luck.

I love Nemera’s subtle connection to your sons name. I think leopard is a great meaning: strong, fast, luxurious. Good choice! I like it a lot better than [name]Kenzie[/name].

Nemera sounds very ethnic to me, like it would be on a child of Middle Eastern descent. It’s just one of those cultural names that would look funny on someone not of that culture.

Hmm. I like [name]Vida[/name] the best! Very distinctive, yet still fun and lively. I don’t love Nemera…and [name]Kenzie[/name] is really just not my fave, it seems sort of unoriginal…

blade - I’m afraid not. I love [name]Leo[/name]- names for boys though.

Kala_way - I like [name]Nova[/name], but I’m half Swedish and grew up there, and in [name]Sweden[/name] nova is very trendy and popular so I don’t want to use it.

[name]Vida[/name]! Pick vida! Beautiful and feminine!

I really like it, [name]Mera[/name] or [name]Nera[/name] are good nicknames too. The only problem with it is pronunciation confusion. However, a lot of people deal with that; people mess up totally common names too so it’s not likely to be avoided anyways. I agree with a previous comment stating that [name]Kenzie[/name] might not age well. I can’t see it as a very serious name for an adult.

I also like [name]Vida[/name] the best. [name]Kenzie[/name] lacks substance and I strongly dislike it.
Good luck!

I immediately thought of Nymeria as well  Nymeria might actually be easier for people to “get”, as GoT is such a popular show. Unfortunately, I do think people will have a hard time with Nemera, and will most likely believe you made it up. A shame, because it is beautiful.

I like [name]Vida[/name] quite a bit, but it does sound sort of strange with [name]Drake[/name] to me. My personal experience with the name (albeit, usually as [name]Vita[/name]) leads me to think of it as old lady chic. I think I like [name]Veda[/name] better with [name]Drake[/name]. [name]Lyra[/name] also appeals to me.

I think Nemera and [name]Vida[/name] are both much, much preferable to [name]Kenzie[/name].

Thanks for all the opinions so far!
I really like [name]Vida[/name], but I think we will have to take it off out list. I just don’t like how it sounds with [name]Drake[/name], and even though I have had several people telling me how gorgeous [name]Vida[/name] Wilde is, I can’t agree. So, I guess we’re down to [name]Kenzie[/name] or Nemera. And maybe even [name]Seraphina[/name], hmm…
Anyway, thank you!
