Questions Concerning Nicknames For

One of my all-time favourite girl names is currently [name_u]Ellington[/name_u]. As of right now, I have come up with the nicknames [name_f]Elle[/name_f], Ling, and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. ([name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is too close to [name_u]Allie[/name_u] and there’s way too many of [name_m]Al[/name_m]- names in my family)

I have a few questions concerning nicknames for this name. Opinions are needed.

  1. There is no S sound in the name at all. Would [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] still work? Or [name_f]Elda[/name_f]?
  2. For my full current combo, [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], could the nickname [name_f]CeCe[/name_f] work or should I stick to just the first name.
  3. What about calling her “EC^2” after her initials as one of those “family-only” kinds of nicknames. Is that weird or charming.

I love [name_u]Ellington[/name_u]!!! I’d say [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is the obvious go-to nn. I wouldn’t try too hard to come up with something else. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] works great, but I’d just call her by her full name. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!

Personally, I would prefer to call my future kid by their full name with this name. It’s so elegant to me. However, I also like the idea of establishing a more girlier nickname just in case she doesn’t like her more unisex name. Plus, it’ll probably end up being nicknamed by my family anyway so it’s probably best to go through all the options for one to call her myself. I’m really liking [name_f]CeCe[/name_f] for the middle names [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but it feels far-fetched.

  1. [name_f]Elda[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] might be a stretch, but I think [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] could work. Since your current combo is [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], my first thought was that it could be a play on the first letters of her first and middle, [name_f]El[/name_f]-C, ergo [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
  2. I think it could work, but it’s not as readily apparent as a nickname that uses her first name as the basis, like [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. People go by their middles and unrelated nns all the time though, so it’s really more of a “only if it bothers you” type situation.
  3. Kind of weirdly charming in that family kind of way. It could be cute for a math/science whiz though.
