Questions on Clementine, Seren, Calla, and Isolde/Iseult

  1. [name]Clementine[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you like the name? [name]Do[/name] you think the nn [name]Mina[/name] could work? (I wouldn’t use it all the time as I personally love the full [name]Clementine[/name], but it’s my favorite nn option)

  1. [name]Seren[/name]

What do you think of the name? I go back and forth on it - so help me make up my mind!
[name]Will[/name] a [name]Seren[/name] end up being called [name]Sera[/name]/[name]Sarah[/name] at some point? I have some bad [name]Sarah[/name] associations and I would detest that as a nn.

  1. [name]Calla[/name]

This is growing on my but when you hear it do you 1) always think immediately of [name]Lily[/name]? 2) think of the word callous?

  1. [name]Isolde[/name]/[name]Iseult[/name]

Which do you prefer and why? (if you know)
I like these names but for the middle spot only. I’d love some suggestions on names that would work in combination with it.

[name]Clementine[/name] – I think it’s beautiful! [name]Mina[/name] could work, but I really don’t like it.

[name]Seren[/name] – I know it’s a girls name, but I can’t help but find this masculine… People will probably get used to it and not get it confused with [name]Sarah[/name]/[name]Sera[/name]

[name]Calla[/name] – I think it’s gorgeous! I think of lilies, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! I don’t think of callous.

[name]Isolde[/name]/[name]Iseult[/name] – [name]Isolde[/name] is my favourite spelling. [name]Iseult[/name] looks a little odd, and reminds me of silt.

[name]Isolde[/name] is beautiful! [name]Clementine[/name] and [name]Seren[/name] are nms but I think they work best with [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Calla[/name] sounds awkward with it. I say be brave, use [name]Isolde[/name] as a fn and something else in the middle There is something very sweet and gentle about [name]Isolde[/name] but not in a fragile weak way. Its not exactly my style to use but I would love to meet one!

[name]Clementine[/name] - I personally kind of hate it. To me it’s overly cutesy and pretentious. There’s a good pop culture association with the character in [name]Eternal[/name] [name]Sunshine[/name] of the Spotless Mind, but also a couple of bad ones (the character on [name]Reno[/name] 911! and of course “Oh My Darlin’”)… [name]Mina[/name] could work as a nickname, though [name]Tina[/name] seems more intuitive.

[name]Seren[/name] - It’s nice, but I prefer [name]Serena[/name] personally. She will probably get called [name]Sarah[/name] or [name]Sharon[/name] at least a few times in her life.

[name]Calla[/name] - I agree with the above poster who said it sounds pretty but incomplete. I’d rather [name]Calliope[/name].

[name]Isolde[/name]/[name]Iseult[/name] - I adore this name! I go back and forth between these spellings, as well as [name]Ysolde[/name] and [name]Yseult[/name]. I think my favorite of the four is probably [name]Ysolde[/name], since my husband’s family is Hispanic and that’s the way it’d likely be spelled in Spanish.

I adore [name]Clementine[/name], such a beautiful name and a new love of mine. I actually adore the nn [name]Tiny[/name], but obviously she would grow out of this. [name]Mina[/name] could definitely work if you make it work!

[name]Seren[/name] is another beauty, and I love its meaning of ‘star’. I only know of one girl named [name]Seren[/name] and she’s beautiful, I know another with it as a middle name too. The [name]Seren[/name] I know of isn’t called [name]Sera[/name] ever.

  1. With [name]Calla[/name] I automatically think what is her full name? It’s a nickname to me and not a very nice one.

  2. I don’t like the sound of [name]Isolde[/name], sorry. [name]Jemima[/name] [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Freya[/name] [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Isolde[/name]?

Yeah, I’m more concerned with [name]Seren[/name] being given the nn [name]Sera[/name]. I don’t mind if people mishear it occasionally. I have a foreign name and people mess it up too, but it’s easy to correct. I would just not want it to be something that stuck if that makes sense.

I can’t think of anything longer for [name]Calla[/name] that I actually like, so for me it would be [name]Calla[/name] or nothing. It’s not very high on my list right now though…and I’m thinking the feedback is pushing it further down anyway!

Part of the reason I love [name]Clementine[/name] is because it works in both English and French but is not overly common in either language. I actually had a friend with the name in [name]France[/name] when I was little. It just feels like a very happy name to me.
