Would it be silly to name my daughter [name_f]Petal[/name_f]? It’s been on my mind for a while and I even considered it as a pet name for [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], but the other day when it was name of the day here on Nameberry, I couldn’t help but consider [name_f]Petal[/name_f] as a stand-alone name.
Is it alright to use [name_f]Willa[/name_f] as a daughter’s first name or middle considering I already used [name_u]Willie[/name_u] for her older brother? [name_m]William[/name_m] was my father and both grandfathers and I love how this would tie in all of my children’s names.
What would you nickname a baby [name_f]Martha[/name_f]? Does [name_f]Martha[/name_f] go well with [name_u]Toby[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]?
What do you think of [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]? I have been thinking of using it as an alternative to [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] as a middle name. I love [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] for it’s meaning but mostly for it’s connection to “[name_m]Ernest[/name_m] and [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]” my favorite children’s books for the beautiful watercolours and now the animation film that my sons adore. Fun fact: [name_u]Toby[/name_u]'s middle name of [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] is also because of the books, and not so much [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m] as my friends would think.
Last question: What would you name [name_u]Toby[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]'s sister, out of all the names in the English-speaking world?
1 I want to like [name_f]Petal[/name_f] as a name, but I think I prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].
2 Since [name_u]Willie[/name_u] is in the middle name spot for your son, yes I think you can use [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. While I personally like the name [name_f]Willa[/name_f], it doesn’t feel like it fits with your son’s names.
3 Hmm… a tough one. I’d go with [name_f]Martta[/name_f]. Reminds me of Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]. I don’t really get the same vibe from [name_f]Martha[/name_f] as I do from [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_u]Toby[/name_u].
4 [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] is quite lovely and would make a wonderful middle name. I especially like that there’s a special connection for you, that’s important to me too.
1: I think [name_f]Petal[/name_f] is beautiful. I can’t see myself using it on a baby of mine, but it isn’t my baby
2: I wouldn’t use [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. They just seem too close to me, although [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is very pretty.
3: I find [name_f]Marta[/name_f] sends more of the same vibe that [name_u]Toby[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] do… But then you’d asked about [name_f]Martha[/name_f] I would use:

4: I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]! Totally use it I can see it on a baby and it’s a personal favorite.

I probably wouldn’t use [name_f]Petal[/name_f] as a first name, however I think it’s a very cute nickname/pet name! It’s the nn I use for some of my friends, haha - even though their names are not remotely nature-related.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] is far too close to [name_u]Willie[/name_u] to use as a first name, however I think you could probably get away with using it as a middle name.
Most of my ideas have already been suggested, but [name_f]Mar[/name_f] or [name_u]Marty[/name_u] are a couple others. [name_f]Martha[/name_f] seems slightly more ‘old lady’ to me than [name_u]Toby[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - you could use [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Marcia[/name_f], [name_f]Marta[/name_f], [name_f]Martine[/name_f]/[name_f]Martina[/name_f] or [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
The name [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] is nice, however I prefer the slightly shorter [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] which still has the same meaning of ‘heavenly’.
I think if we were talking 10 years from now then yes but I’m guessing your already pregnant or trying to conceive so no not quite.
Is he called [name_u]Willie[/name_u]? I know some kids go by their middles? If yes not if no then it’s okay.
I love the name [name_f]Martha[/name_f] just plain [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. So yeah [name_f]Martha[/name_f] is cool. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t see the logic to have it as a nickname though.
Too heavy for a kid and too mystical for an adult. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] would be cute though.

[name_f]Petal[/name_f] is so cute! I also love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] if we’re thinking of flower names.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] is one of my favourite names! If you call your son ‘[name_u]Willie[/name_u]’ as a first name then it’s best in the middle spot.
