Questions

Hello all! I recently posted a thread that asked for some suggestions. We’re happy to report that we were able to add the majority to the ‘love’ list for our twin girls.

I have some more requests that perhaps you all would like to answer? I would rather do this all at once than have many threads open.

  1. Here is our list so far; what are your thoughts:
    [name_f]Mara[/name_f]
    [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
    [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
    [name_f]Stella[/name_f] “[name_f]Star[/name_f]”
    [name_f]Elena[/name_f]
    [name_f]Nina[/name_f]
    [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
    [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
    [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
    [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
    [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
    [name_f]Grier[/name_f]

  2. We’d like to honour some family members [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Manon[/name_f]. What would be your favourite ways to honour these names?

  3. Should we give our girls two middle names? If so, should we use both to honour family or one we love and one as an honour name?

Thank you in advance. Much love from us and the girls!

Mara - Very sweet and elegant. Mara Abigail?
Abigail - Like it as a middle but too popular as a first.
Mila - It’s cute but I prefer Mara ten fold.
Stella “Star” - Stella is cute. Stella Josephine?
Elena - Very sweet. Elena Charlotte?
Nina - Again I love it. Nina Abigail?
Charlotte - Very sweet but I’m sick of hearing it as a first.
Amelia - Same as above.
Claire - Really pretty and spunky. Claire Lilliana?
Leona - Leona is so gorgeous. Leona Winifred?
Maude - Very harsh sounding.
Grier - Good middle but doesn’t really stand as a first.

I think two middles would be okay but it’s up to you. I’d do one you like and then the honour.

Mara - I love this name. I adore both pronounciations, which are you planning to use?
Abigail - So sweet!
Mila - Mila is such an absolutely cute and darling name.
Stella “Star” - Stella is one of my all time favourites. Star is an adorable nickname.
Elena - Another of my favourites!
Nina - A timeless, charming name.
Charlotte - Too popular at the moment for me to like it in the first spot.
Amelia - Same as Charlotte.
Claire - It’s been seeing a lot of use lately, but I love it. It isn’t too popular yet.
Leona - This name make me think of sunsets on the beach. It’s a beautiful name to me.
Maude - I love it, but I don’t see it fitting in with the others on this list.
Grier - Same as Maude.

I would use your honour names as they are. I think they’re all absolutely lovely.

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] for one twin and [name_f]Grier[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] for the second twin. That’s my vote.

What about:
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
I think you can choose which pairs together. Two middles are fine! I tried to use each name once except for the honor names, I had to use more. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you like some of these!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestion above of [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]. I’d also like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f].

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] list! I really like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] “[name_f]Star[/name_f]”, [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f] - especially [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f]! Twins [name_f]Elena[/name_f] (meaning light) and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] (star) sound perfect to me.

Sure, give them two middles if you want -and it can be both honour or one you love. Either is perfectly fine, imo.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]

Thank you all for your lovely thoughts. We’re so tickled! We are loving [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f], & [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f].

[name_f]Mara[/name_f] - Such a gorgeous simple and feminine name that is rarely heard. I think for a middle name [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] or [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_u]Josie[/name_u] would be sweet if using variants of the honour names listed.
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - I am not a fan of this as it was every where in the 80s/90s and I have hear it so much it lacks lustre.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] - I do love this but I do think of [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis every time I hear and see it, which is not a bad thing, that is just the association I have with the name. I think [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]Josie[/name_u] would be sweet.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] “[name_f]Star[/name_f]” - I have rarely heard [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and I love the NN. Sella [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] would be adorable.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] - [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is not my style but I do like the look and sound of it. I like the NN [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f] would be nice.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] - This is a gorgeous simple and feminine name that is rarely heard. [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] would be gorgeous.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - I feel like there are so many other names on your list that have more lustre and are more fresh.
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - As above.
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] - [name_f]Claire[/name_f] I feel is really over looked, it is such a feminine and chic name. I think it goes with any of the honour names and most of their variants.
[name_f]Leona[/name_f] - I love the sound of this so much, It is beautiful. [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] pulls at my heart strings. So sweet.
[name_f]Maude[/name_f] - I am not a fan of this as it feels a little dated to me.
[name_f]Grier[/name_f] - This is such a different and interesting name, I love the look and sound of it.

I am planning to use two middle names, I like using an honour name and a favourite name.

If it were me I would name them. [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f].

I hope this helps. I wish you luck in your journey and many blessings.

I like:

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] and [name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]

[name_f]Mara[/name_f] - unusual and pretty; also consider [name_f]Maren[/name_f]

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - not my personal favorite, but it’s quite popular so clearly lots of people like it

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] - unique but familiar because of the actress, but also will likely become more popular for the same reason

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] “[name_f]Star[/name_f]” - I’ve known a couple of [name_f]Stella[/name_f]'s and it suited them well, but I don’t care for [name_f]Star[/name_f] as a nickname.

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] - one of my favorites, I like E names

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] - again, uncommon but familiar, which I think is good

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - classic and sophisticated; popular but I like the nicknames [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] you can use. My little cousin is named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and amusingly pronanunces her name “Sharted” right now.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - this one is on my list, love it

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] - nice, pretty name

[name_f]Leona[/name_f] - not my favorite

[name_f]Maude[/name_f] - my least favorite of this list

[name_f]Grier[/name_f] - I love unisex names for girls, but this wouldn’t be one I would choose, possibly because I know a family with this as a last name.

You could try using alternative names inspired by the names you want to honor if none of them are quite working for you. You could do [name_u]Josie[/name_u] or a name with the nickname [name_u]Jo[/name_u] to honor [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] could be shortened to either [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] or [name_f]Winni[/name_f], and [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] could become [name_f]Lili[/name_f]/[name_f]Lilly[/name_f]. I’ve also seen several people liking different “[name_f]Cora[/name_f]” names like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], or [name_f]Coralynn[/name_f].

A couple ideas:
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Manon[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]

[name_f]Mara[/name_f] is hands down my favourite on this list followed by [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Mara[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] are different enough to not feel too matchy, but pair beautifully together.

I also like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f] & [name_f]Stella[/name_f] a lot. I also love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but it feels overused. I mainly love it because I love the nickname [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] for a little girl.

[name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] are names I don’t dislike, but they are the middle of the pack compared to the rest of the names. But that’s my opinion.

My least favourites are [name_f]Maude[/name_f] & [name_f]Grier[/name_f]. But I feel like they could work nicely as as middle names depending on the first name you pair them with. They just feel a bit harsh sounding as first names to me.

I think the 2 middle name idea is a great idea. I love when people use honour names, but I think that you should also choose a middle name that you like as well! So I’m all for 2 middle names in this situation!
