Quick honest question on Lake Rose

I was asked my opinion (in real life not online) on the name [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m]. Personally I am not a fan of using word names with a last name that is a word/colour name, but does this work? I am wondering because lake is in the middle and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is such a long time established name (even though it is a word as well), does this make it ok? I was asked and wasnt too sure how i felt, so was interested to know what you other berries thought?

I don’t think the flow works well. Each name being one syllable makes it feel sort of staccato and abrupt and awkward. Maybe something like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m]? The syllables and the sounds (the way [name_f]Elle[/name_f] flows into [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and the way [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_m]Black[/name_m] both end in the same sound) are more of an issue than the wordiness to me.

I have a tough time with [name_u]Lake[/name_u] because, even though I like the sound of is, no matter where you put it, she ends up sounding like a body of water. My other problem with this name is that, other than [name_f]Elle[/name_f], they are all word names. And all of them are one syllable. [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_u]Lake[/name_u] are all nice, but strung all together, it sounds like a string of words. Sorry!

I actually really like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m], but not [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m]. All the word names together sounds more like a description than a name, and I don’t feel like the flow is great with all four names being one syllable. I would keep [name_f]Elle[/name_f] but look for new longer middles.

[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m] sounds like a body of water. So does [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] sounds like a black rose. [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] sounds like a word association game.

With a last name that is a colour, I think names that aren’t verbs, adjectives or nouns in their own right are a better bet.

Agree with previous poster about the shortness of the names.

If they like [name_f]Elle[/name_f], maybe they want to consider names that get shortened to [name_f]Elle[/name_f], but are longer in the original?

Examples include:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] (I know 2 Elles that are Lucindas)
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
Ellory
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
Elouera
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] / [name_f]Heloise[/name_f]

Yes sorry I should of posted that I totally agree with the one syllable thing. I suggested if they like short names even something like clio river rose black might work. the reason I asked the question is I am unsure if middles like that work with the last name? Any thoughts on clio river rose black?

The flow of the name feels abrupt and my mind dances around images like a black rose and a black lake.

[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] doesn’t feel any better than [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m].

[name_f]Clio[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] is cute and spunky!

Individually the names are fine, but I really don’t think the single syllables are working at all. They’re too abrupt, and it does rather sound like a string of words put together. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m] would be a smidge better, but it’s still not the most musical combo, I’m afraid. I’m also having a hard time with [name_u]Lake[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] together, since they’re both nouns that really have nothing to do with one another.

Honestly, I would go with [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m] unless this person is really set on having [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in there.

I agree w/pps…if the first name is pronounced [name_f]EL[/name_f], then the four one-syllable names just don’t go well together. If the pronunciation is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], that’s better w/[name_m]Black[/name_m], but having [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in the middle seems like the computer burped & dropped a GPS location in there. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion, but if the person could find a name that has whatever appeals about “lake” in it & changed [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to a [name_f]Rose[/name_f] variant, the name would flow a lot more smoothly.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] is lovely, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] is waaay too wordy. I think a longer middle name will work best, and especially not one starting with an L. What about [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m]?

what about [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?
it’s still staying with the nature/water theme, it just sounds better.

“[name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]” might turn into “Fake [name_f]Rose[/name_f]” when she’s in school.

[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sounds like a forest fairies’ name - beautiful*

Thanks everyone, sadly its pretty much what I was expecting. Although I do still love clio river rose, maybe just not with black

I’d prefer just [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m], as [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_u]Lake[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m] sound too much like descriptions to me. Still, it sounds kind of choppy with all the one-syllable names.
Maybe they’d like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m]? Or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a short form of [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f], [name_f]Elora[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] or any other [name_f]El[/name_f]-name that was already named by a previous poster?

I think [name_f]Clio[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Black[/name_m] is really pretty! [name_f]Clio[/name_f] is one of my fave names
